A Neophyte's Experience with a Gummy

Some of you might be interested in my gummy experience. I do not advocate anything here, but just want to share a new experience.

Outside of four episodes in my eighty-four plus years, I have not used marijuana or other drugs beyond alcohol, coffee, maté from the Pampas of Argentina, and whatever uppers there are in dark chocolate. I have no tolerance for anything.

Specs: Age 84 1/2, Gleason 9 in half of prostate, cancer grade T2C, and risk level 5. Physically fit.

Started ADT (Orgovyx) five weeks ago. Most symptoms exacerbate existing conditions—fatigue, painful hips and shoulders, and sore feet. New effects are depression, mental confusion, hot flashes, chills, headache, and mild flu symptoms to start. All are only a one or two on a scale of max ten except for depression at a three. I live with them.

Last night February 20 at 6:30 PM, I ate a quarter of a marijuana gummy. It was 1:1:1 of CBN 100 mg, CBD 100 mg, and THC 100 mg. A single gummy has 5 mg of each. In an hour I felt relaxed and grogginess faded to mellow haze. Joint pain faded and was not relevant. Thinking and cognition were totally gone. Depression improved to a mild upbeat. Seemed to have exaggerated hot flashes. Overall effect was a six on a scale of one to ten.

It lasted through the evening. I slept well until 12:30 AM when I needed a pee break. I was still woozy the next morning but a hike with the dog and two cups of coffee cleared it up. The best outcome was the improvement of my depression. I even felt better today. The second was the masking of joint pain.

I will rarely be doing this because I hate the loss of cognition and thinking. The gummies are in my hip pocket when I night need them.

My product was recommended by the Dispensary for my condition. The gummies are made locally in Colorado, kind of like local craft beer.

Good luck.

Btw: does your name happen to refer to working the world on ham radio. It’s a term often used by hams. Just asking.

It was my cousin who talked to the world. He has a 120 ft. antenna in his backyard in Northglenn, north of Denver. It was the bane of his neighbors. He regularly talked to folks everywhere.

My moniker refers to my working oil and gas projects on every continent of the world. Hungary under the communists of Russia was interesting. The workers had the same experiences as those in the United States oil patch, but in countries such as Libya.

A recruiting outfit once flew me to Calgary for an interview, since the United States had an embargo with Libya. The pay was double my stateside level, and the recruiter said, "Not to worry. The petroleum activities are in the south and far from Gaddafi and his politics. As an added sweetener, the recruiter promised that a personal body guard would always accompany me.

I took a lesser paid position somewhere else.

try the search feature at the top of the page for “ delta 8 “ . We’ve had some interesting talks about gummies lately. Hemp derived Delta 8 gummies are legal, federally, nation wide. Unlike their close brother marijuana. They are legal OTC in most states too. You’d have to check locally. These types of gummies can give you the pain relief ( hhc gummies ) and Xanax like laugh factory delta -8 gummies. They come in precisely dosed , mostly 25 mg cube gummies with most with delicious turpine marijuana flavors. They are much less expensive than marijuana and every bit effective. Taking 1/4 slice of delta-8 is an excellent daily micro dose that is nearly the same as Xanax but OTC. A whole 25 MG. Gummie is about the same as some top drawer bud. Like with top drawer bud, if you eat two 25s or a single 50 mg delta- 8, you get the same heavy buzz. You can get delta-9 ( thc )/gummies if you want or but a bottle of delta-8, delta-9, ThcV gummies or several other combos. It’s something to check out that might be way less expensive, it’s still thc and it a very reliable, repeatable akaloid to target your individual problem. For joint pain, for me , the HHC ( hexahydrocannabinol ) gummies work for my cancer damaged body joints. You can Google all this. Delta -8:is sold in cbd stores locally and purchased thru the mail if it legal in your state.

This is strictly my own personal opinion, and …as always … it’s best to run anything like this past your medical team before use.

❤️❤️❤️

Excellent information. I got a package of 1:1:1 gummies with 100 mg each of CBN, CBD, and THC. A quarter of a gummy as a microdose worked real well. I have a post on this under my name. I will try Delta-8 next. I live in Colorado, so this stuff is legal. I agree that it works well.

My medical team enthusiastically agreed with Stavia, which is about like Delta-8. I have to broach the suggest it first, however. This is probably to comply with ethical and professional laws.

hey if you don’t like the grogginess you should try microdosing mushrooms…try around 250mg and then hit some relaxing tunes. I usually do 10mg this gummies whenever I feel like it, 10mg CBD daily and the mushrooms whenever. I also smoke a joint or 2 every night. Just keeping things mellow. My MO says hey if it works, it works.

Might I ask how or where you get your shrooms? Here in Colorado they are legal to have but not legal to sell.

Thanks. I looked them up and exchanged several emails. They emphasized to me that they deal only in gourmet mushrooms and offer nothing related to psilocybin. I might have to join a Healing Center in Colorado where they can give me micro doses. I am getting a medical marijuana card tomorrow. It might extend to mushrooms when they are fully legalized. Thanks for the contact. Their operations are only about 25 miles away from me here.

Good post. Good for those uninitiated in cannabis consumption and looking to try it. Well done in describing the gummy contents, dose, effects. (one thing though the 1:1:1 gummies probably contained at most 10mg of each component-thc,cbd,cbn).

You beat my common simple "boosts mood, helps with pain, sleep, and appetite" by a long shot lol.

Copied from your post:

A couple of things Campsoups. I appreciate your very extensive statement of your diagnoses and treatments. It make a good baseline. Second, I appreciate your comments on my CBN/CBD/THC gummy. You enthuse me so much I am going to repeat it as soon as I finish this post. February 21, 16:22 pm, Colorado time.

I am also on Orgovyx. I was curious if there was anything when combining it with a cannabis product that affected the efficacy of the Orgovyx. Not really wanting to have this conversation with my MO. Was anything mentioned when discussed with your medical team ?

Worked_the_World profile image
Worked_the_World in reply to APK3

I started Orgovyx on January 27, 2024. I live in Colorado where cannabis ix legal. I have never used marijuana.

I make it a point to ask every medical practitioner about cannabis in general. All have responded positively, some with active encouragement. Physicians are limited by national codes of ethics and are not able to recommend illegal substances for a patient. Not so for physicians assistants and nurses. They give you the straight scoop based on many encounters with users over their careers.

My radiation oncologist's nurse specifically recommended the stavia strain which is derived from hemp and is not psychoactive. I have personally been using a transdermal (passed to tissues through the skin) salve for my arthritis with good results.

I have tried eating a quarter of a gummy which is a1:1:1 formulation of CBN/CBD/THC which makes about a 1.5 mg each. The effects for me are a reduction in joint pain from the Orgovyx, a mood improvement from my depression, and a general feeling of relaxation. As well, however, is that my cognition and thinking stops dead during the episode. I hate this and generally avoid chewing gummies.

As a bit of history, the United States drug laws of a few years ago could have been used to arrest the entire population of the India subcontinent over at least 4000 years. Same for the Arabs and Semites throughout the Middle East for all history. Same for shamans the world over. My point is that cannabis has a longer record of treatment than any other medication in use today.

Other thoughts, members?

Thank you for your reply. My question was more along the line of the pathway that cannabis and Orgovyx are metabolized. I think they share the same pathway. I didn't know if that was a problem with diluting the Orgovyx strength to do it's job. Thanks for that the time to answer.

Good point. I have not seen anything that examines the cross-effects of cannabis and Relugolix (Orgovyx). I am watching it carefully.

After a single use of cannabis a week ago, my PSV dropped from 9.2 last August to 1.2 yesterday. My testosterone came in at 3 whereas the normal range is 264 to 916.

Conclusions: Among individuals with affective symptoms, naturalistic use of cannabis was associated with better sleep quality, particularly for those using edible and CBD dominant products.

You say you’ve been on Orgovyx for 5 weeks. How long do you expect to be on it?

Worked_the_World profile image

My urologist and medical oncologist both say at least two years to life if my body can handle it.

I see. You also say ‘physically fit’. What are your habits?

Worked_the_World profile image
Worked_the_World in reply to London441

I walk my dog about a half to three-quarters of a mile every morning and sometimes during the day. Hit the gym three or four times a week. Each workout is 20 minute on a rowing machine followed by a resistance training of a major muscle group. My body and muscles are willing but my joints protest. Still, at 84.5 I seem to be making it.

I've never lost "cognition", ADT does that enough, but you have to accept the relaxation it brings. I use a small piece occasionally to sleep as it helps and I actually get up less to pee as I'm thinking it's more sensation than actual need.

Worked_the_World profile image

I agree about disliking the loss of cognition, especially at late stages in life. I'd rather have a glass of red wine. At least there's some resveratrol to do some good.

I think you're mistaken. 100mg of THC will send you into orbit, probably 10mg. But everybody's experience is different; I think the list knows that. There is medicinal value to full-spectrum CBD oil and that contains some THC but 100% THC gummies are for entertainnment only IMHO.

CBD does nothing for me. YMMV

CAMPSOUPS profile image
CAMPSOUPS in reply to SteveTheJ

Oh no your right. Highly unlikely his gummie's contained 100 mg thc whew. That means my reply above as to how his notations were good for others to follow is off.

I think I will edit that reply I made.

Worked_the_World profile image
Worked_the_World in reply to CAMPSOUPS

True. The 100 mg was the total for the entire group of twenty gummies. Dosage is 5 mg each per gummy. I ate a quarter of that or 1.25 mg and still got a strong reaction. No tolerance, no experience.

CAMPSOUPS profile image
CAMPSOUPS in reply to Worked_the_World

No worries. Yep thats what I like about your post. Good for those with no tolerance or experience. I have too much of both lol.

SteveTheJ profile image
SteveTheJ in reply to CAMPSOUPS

Couple of additional points: IMHO, the packaging on CBD/THC products is intentionally confusing by listing the total amount of mg in the package instead of in each gummy (for example). If the package says 100mg, and you have 10 gummies in the package ...

Here are some articles I think explain the benefit of full-spectrum CBD oil. I do not hawk supplements but I've been taking this since shortly after my diagnosis and for all I know it's been helping me.
