QOL post: a reminder that tomorrow is the annual 4:20 day and a quick review of Delta-8 thc for serious mood elevation.

all you brothers out there , a quick reminder that tomorrow is national 4:20 day for all of us that use / enjoy cannabis for helping with out cancer and especially mood elevation and nausea control.

also: I wanted to mention , for those that aren’t aware of it yet … I want to mention Delta-8 gummies. Delta 8 comes from the hemp plant same as delta-9 thc …pot….marijuana etc. …but contains nearly zero of the familiar marijuana main akaloid delta-9. Thus its effect is quite different. There are many articles on Google that extols the physical health benefits of delta-8, same as ordinary CBD products… both are hemp plant derivatives. One whole 25mg delta-8 gummy has powerful mental impact, nearly the same as delta-9 normal cannabis but it’s FAR more depression lifting and mental elevation generating. It’s a powerful mood elevator that exceeding xanax considerably. Delta-8 is primarily sold in your local CBD shop. It was freely sold on Amazon at one point but is gone now I believe. Dosage for me ( a plus sized guy ) is half a gummy for a milder but impressive result , a quarter gummy for daily use as a background mood elevator …and a whole gummy suggested if you want to deeply relax and laugh your Hind end off all day. Delta-8 seems to have a much stronger laugh factor than ordinary delta-9 marijuana. One little 25 mg cube gets me stoned to the bone, but in a much nicer way than standard delta-9 marijuana.

These are just my thoughts for the upcoming annual 4:20 celebration and for powerful, effective mood elevation using delta-8 gummies. Of course it’s IMHO and anecdotal.

❤️❤️❤️

I may have to consider. Starting back on ADT is creating the weirdest dreams which I had last time but I am thinking of the end much more than I remember doing last time. That was a long time ago so my memory may be off. The false hope of a cure I had the first time around is not here but the new regret I let it go too long before restarting might be part of it as well. Shouldn't be hard to find it since there's a shop on every corner around here. Thanks for posting.

Kaliber profile image
Kaliber in reply totreedown

hay big guy … sorry to hear about starting ADT again , but tharze “ good stuff “ in doing that by kicking our eventual proverbial “ can “ much further down that road buddy. That you can still do that is a very good thing that many guys here would be very envious of. There is a strong up side to it.

Definitely delta-8 is a powerful mood elevator and trying it might help considerably ….. but ….. your first and foremost choice is to contact your pcp for a referral to your psyc - pain management team member. Times have come me a long way in recent times with many new , very effective, mood management drugs out there. These guys handle all kinda of sadness and depression daily, they are the experts in this filed. They see more fast moving - aggressive cancer patients… like lung, brain, liver etc. and their same methodologies would benefit you dramatically , same as them.

Delta-8 has been a hysterical laugh machine ( from a professional grade marijuana user , the hammer ) here …. Cutting a 25mg gummy into 1/8ths for morning night use can be the same as a Xanax here in the house. It’s worth a try , and you could use tomorrow to set things up.

❤️❤️❤️

Thanks D. Certainly don't mean to be a whiner (not that I think your calling me one) and agree there's many in worst straights than myself. The reminder alone helps me keep perspective and putting it out there is theraputic as well. I am pretty sure the dreams have to do with the HT drugs and hoping my body will reach some equalibrium which it did in the past and they stopped. I have considered talking to a close childhood friend who is a counselor by trade and I will if I feel it is necessary just on the fence now. I also know getting out on my bike helps me wonders and that is also something I am lucky to have that many don't, I just need the weather to help or stop whining and just do it in the cold and wet. I appreciate your posts as always!!

Hey old friend brother tree who used to harken from my old haunts where the skyscrapers loom in the distance.

I struggled with words to express when I read this yesterday. Can’t say I’ll do any better today lol.

I don’t know except to go down the line of hopefully misery loves company because I had some set backs a few months ago too. But I cant imagine the let down you’ve felt after strong indications a cure was possible. Just think if you were livin the good life without PC in the picture and were forced to take ADT you would feel like crap. But no, have the diagnosis, prognosis to add to the feel like crap mentality.

There is no real distinction between any of us really in the psychology we deal with I imagine and if there was I would never say one has it worse than another so don’t think that when I vent my recent experience and no you aren’t whining either. But I will lol. Just kidding.

I guess we talked about this before ( wow I have some brain activity left ) but when I progressed after a year on chemo and especially/finally when I progressed on Zytiga after 14 months I realized I was like the average findings from the trials. Not an outlier like I lied and psyched myself out to be. The realization came that those 2 years riding fairly SE free and living in the moment, everyday thinking It might go on for a few years came to a halt and further I knew the coming treatments likely will come and go fast.

So then I started the “next” treatments in about last November. I went for chemo/Docetaxel and unlike 3 years ago it was of no benefit, my PSA was progressing and eventually pain in some of my bone metastasis’s. I only had 3 infusions of chemo this time but it hit my body and my brain like a truck. I am just starting to turn a corner I think but my mental has been totally down as in nothing appears to be pleasurable and or no motivation. My appetite is shot to the point of potential gagging. Then I started Xtandi and it might be the culprit for a fall down, throw up, vertigo episode I had a week ago ( or my skull mets finally connecting with my brain? The odds are very slim of that happening though).

Anyway that’s about enough of that from me. Especially since I think I might be turning a corner especially since yesterday. My neck doesn’t feel like my head weighs 100 lbs anymore. The slight headache is gone. Eating is better. Only down side is Xtandi isn’t stopping progression but progression is minor. Makes me think about how often we hear from our Dr.’s and others how we feel is a good indicator or most important.

I don’t know how to end this except to say this was supposed to be more about my concern for you and not about me but again I guess I am saying we can both relate to something of the same thing, that we share the same misery. But actually as far as prognosis I think you’ve got a shot at a lot of quality years. BTW raining and 39 degrees here in the twin cities. At least the last of the snow has melted except still some of those ugly almost gone piles in parking lots. Won’t be long and I’ll be going in the garage and preparing all my fishing gear instead of cowering at the thought of going in the cold garage lol. Dont believe anyone who says Chicago and twin cities have same winters lol.

CS sorry for the slow response. I am sorry to hear what you've endured and very glad to hear it seems to be behind you for now. Sounds like a really tough time. What we tell each other in my opinion is invaluable as it might give some of us insight into what's ahead. As you know its been on my mind quite a bit. I would love to know that the clock is starting over now on my treatment, but I am sure that is not the case. So learning from those of us that explain what they are going and have gone through really helps me to watch out for signs of what's to come. I guess what I am saying is, I think that talking about yourself is exactly the thing that helps me so thank you.

Forecast says 70's here next week so I wait with baited breath. Meant to say enjoy that fishing after that but got distracted and hit REPLY too soon.

do delta 8s have THC?

Kaliber profile image
Kaliber in reply to6357axbz

delta-8 is considered to be delta-9 marijuana free. A residual .3mg or less remains after processing ( an amount considered insignificant in most states ). Around central California, it’s sold mostly in CBD shops and is often - generally labeled “ CBD “ , it’s not directly considered marijuana here . ( Rotflol)

it’s far from being the familiar regular green tasting , CBD oil found on Amazon.

I’m not sure of its chemical identification past what I’ve mentioned

After you mentioned Delta-8 in a previous reply I told my wife about it. She uses medical pot daily (and for recreational purposes). I sometimes use gummies, but don't smoke due to lung probs, so I thought it might be good for me as well. Turns out it is not legal in Oregon, although all kinds of THC and CBD products are widely available. May have to try it out on our California trip in May.

Kaliber profile image
Kaliber in reply toCarlosbach

weird huh …? Oregon has usually led California in progressive things like that. Yea just drive across the border and pick it up about anywhere. Cbd shops prolly the main distributor. They have a very powerful ( wonderful ) turpine fragrance that’d be hard to hide from anyone and impossible from a dog. Just say’in yayahahaha

Yea wierd for Oregon. One of my service trips to Portland I got some rec legal. First time in my life for legal cannabis. This old hippie never thought he would live to see the day he could walk in a store and buy legal thc and I saved the canister as a momento/shrine to mark the amazing day.

I absolutely hear you. You get that excited little grin on the way home. Probably open it and take a deep whiff a few times. Oh yea buddy, I get it yayahahahaya. Its a trip that most of us never forget. I remember mine clearly. It almost takes some of the fun out of it when you remove the “ slightly naughty “ part of the fun. 😂😂😂

CAMPSOUPS profile image
CAMPSOUPS in reply toKaliber

Ha, ha. Yea miss that naughty a bit but dont miss the pain in the ass parts. "you have some"? "Meet you where"? "Lots a cops I'll open my trunk and pretend I'm loaning you a tool". etc. , etc. At least in Chicago I was more of a statistical number out on the 5 lane expressway going home back in those pre legal days. The small towns were frightening ha, ha.

in reply toCarlosbach

Do you know if it’s legal in Washington? We live in the Columbia Gorge and could easily cross the river to purchase in WA.

Unfortunately, Delta-8 is also banned in Washington. We live near the columbia and could cross over at rainier, but no such luck.

Carlosbach in reply toCAMPSOUPS

420 Day, ADT side effects? This morning I feel like i'm tripping on acid and I haven't even taken or used anything. Oh, and its a bad trip. May have to boogie down to my old haunts in the Humbolt region for some relief.

CAMPSOUPS profile image
CAMPSOUPS in reply toCarlosbach

Yea I'm with ya. My bark is worse than my bite so to speak. I often stare at the walls for hours in the morning thinking I should hit some cannabis but dont even have the motivation or spark in my mental state to do it. Sometimes when I finally do I wonder why I didnt just do so right when I wake up. Wake and bake is a great experience but I'm just kind of on a even keel of blah, blah, no matter what. At least the cannabis is still great for my appetite and relaxation. The real problem is I need some Sativa and I have a large amount of Hybrid that leans heavy indica.

This thing we have sucks. It is a bad trip. If you can eat normally, walk or get around somehow, have a bit of your former mental state then I anyway can psych myself into thinking all is well and the end thoughts get pushed aside. What I just mentioned went away for me in around January but as of yesterday might have turned a bit of a corner.

Carlosbach profile image
Carlosbach in reply toCAMPSOUPS

Glad that the corner is in sight. Keep on turning it.

My Eligard induced craziness finally broke last week after more than 2 months. I feel like a new man (well at least a facsimile of a man). Of course, the first time I went out I was exposed to covid and had to quarantine for a few days. Fortunately, neither my wife or I contracted the disease, and life is looking pretty rosy today. Off for a walk in the rain, and maybe even some singing.

Happy 4:20 to you! I have been getting gummy's for my dad for a few years now, and recently he's using a TCH/CBD combination (it's legal in Michigan) and he is having a better appetite, and sleeping better. At night he takes an indica only dose, during the day 5-10 mg of THC/w a 10 mg CBD and is feeling better than without it. It's literally the only thing that calms pain, and helps with some of the nausea and increases his appetite.

Wishing you more laughter, and blessings!

Don't believe it. Everyone is different. That stuff does nothing for me and I understand more states are making it illegal. Try it but don't expect anything.

Kaliber profile image
Kaliber in reply toSteveTheJ

thanks for your input and perspective brother SteveTheJ ….. you are absolutely right, everyone is different. Good one. Yea my experience with cbd’s was laughable as well. I’ve got a couple on the counter I eat mornings just in case yayaya yayayayaya. friends claim wonders for them, but “ for me “ , I wonder why they eat them. 😂😂 anyway, I’d been away from the cbd scene for a loooooong time since I had dismissed them and while talking with a bud about how so many cbd shops can stay in business ( there are dozens of them locally ) selling cbd products, he laughed and asked if I had been in one lately. No I hadn’t but did revisit one near my house and they immediately steered me to their delta-8 products. Something new to me. Turns out that it’s delta-8 thc ( tho called a cbd for regulatory purposes, it’s really THC ) , only one molecule off of delta-9 thc marijuana. Technically , I’d guess delta-8 is marijuana as well. Anyway, remember back when seeds and stems were a thing ? A nice pinner of Mexican red hair set you up for a smooth mellow afternoon at the creek in the woods or hanging with friends. This as contrasted against todays sledge hammer, brain numbing cannabis that makes you hide in your closet if you aren’t careful. Welp, delta-8 is reminiscent of those seeds and stems days, even for a power consumer like my wife the hammer. Even the hammer was impressed ( that’s saying a whopping lot ) . And who really knows what’s going on in those chewy gummy goodnesses anyway. The thing that sticks out about delta-8 is it’s powerful mood enhancing abilities. It must be the molecule in delta-9 that makes you laugh. That’s the scoop on those gummies on this end.

❤️❤️❤️

In the photo below, preparing to bust up this bud into an oven tray to decarb it for edibles.

Sticky , super fragrant bud of green crack. All delta-9 in this puppy.
SteveTheJ profile image
SteveTheJ in reply toKaliber

According to uncle google, Delta 8 and Delta 9 are stereoisomers which I'm not sure exactly what it means. "Isomers" in general are molecules with the same molecular weight, same # of C-H-O, etc but different structures. The various THC forms must react on receptors in different ways.

Unless there is a good reason not to, you might as well try them if they're legal. For some people Delta 8 will be a home run, for others like me, not so much. The main thing I'd be concerned about is who regulates them and how? How do you know you're getting Delta 8 and not Shimmer, the floor wax and dessert topping?

Kaliber profile image
Kaliber in reply toSteveTheJ

California , as you probably know, is regulatory crazy. If I sell product to a dispensary, I have to have the batch chemically assayed before they can buy it, or they will assay it but offer you much less for your beauty buds. It is chemically tested, even for the presence of pesticides and especially for their thc content. Dealers can’t buy or sell products here without it. It’s very strict. Still ….. that wouldn’t stop unscrupulous sellers from slipping in bad product with false claims of potency and bud composition. Same as it ever was …. Yayahahahaya

❤️❤️❤️

I couldn’t get into a dispensary in CA because I didn’t have my drivers licence with me. It was in a warehouse district. What a bunch of crap. We have pot shops all over the place. Just walk in.

Kaliber profile image
Kaliber in reply togsun

roger that. I dunno if delta-8 is sold in marijuana stores or not. Far as I know, we don’t have dispensaries any more, around here , just regular brick and mortar pot stores. They do ask everyone for an I.D. tho. I checked my home delivery service ( they don’t ask for I.D. cards ) , Tiny Weeds of Fresno ( you can Google them ) , and they don’t show delta-8 products that I could find. I was surprised to see that they are selling magic mushroom gummies tho.

We bought our delta-8 at a CBD store , CBD stores are considered very different from stores that sell regular delta-9 marijuana. CBD stores don’t sell that. CBD stores are all over town . Like a 7-11 store. Walk in, buy what you want, pay, walk out. No I.D. Needed to buy CBD store products. They don’t ask for an I.D.

It’s probably different all over California. Coastal cities far more liberal than inland conservative cities. Fresno was late opening up their Marijuana stores, local elements fought it for eons. They saw their neighbors raking in all that mega tax revenue and relented finally. Now we have a bunch of marijuana stores all over town.

I don’t have to buy marijuana ordinarily. I don’t consider this delta-8 to be ordinary marijuana because it isn’t considered to be that by the state ( right now ) and it has no delta-9 marijuana in it. That’s why I primarily made a post about it. It’s a kinda new product that surely must be marijuana but it’s not. Like CBDs , its derived from marijuana . Its probably a product most of us old timers haven’t seen before. Dunno.

I’m kinda over 4:20. There is an annual get together where I live as a protest but now it’s legal and they are still doing it saying it’s a celebration. No permits, no clean up plan, no rules. I checked out KOI , that’s handy , just get it mailed to the house. Yayahahahaya. I’ll keep this in mind if something screws up. We have a lot of marijuana ( delta-9 ) stores here in town , 9 more just opened recently. But there are way more CBD stores here, delta-8 is sold in our “ so called “ cbd stores . I always wondered how those stayed open … surely not by selling regular CBDs yayayayaya. Obviously delta-8 is their lead product. We also have over 150 home delivery services …. Services that don’t have a brick and mortar store front ….. ours are even selling magic mushroom gummies now, but I don’t think they sell delta-8. as well. There is a nice cbd store up , not far , from my house. Even out here in the burbs, our little strip malls have cbd ( delta8 ) retail outlets yayahahahaya. It must be very popular. It seems like I’m having a renaissance of sorts lately. I’m discovering a whole string of stuff that isn’t new but I mostly missed it until now anyway. Asmr, delta-8, live streaming TicTok, Reddit, instagram etc. I’ve been on Twitter ( have a page anyway, I rarely ever visit ) for a few years tho.

The names for these delta products are funny …. Moon Walker, high hopes, ya ya Yayahahahaya. ,
