Being on melatonin and some chemical stuff to be able to sleep at night, I do not have anything intelligent to suggest to reduce our stress...apart maybe from sports/workouts if we can, whenever we can...

Cancer and stress: not directly related to prostate cancer but interesting research
There is no hidden secret. I also played around with melatonin but didn’t see any long term effect. I’m more focusing on meditation, improved breathing, exercising and positive affirmation now. This really improved my sleep and stressless time. You‘ll find a lot of stuff on Youtube. Just try it out and go with what suits you most. I also read books, which provide good mood. And listen to music. Sometimes books and music go hand in hand. Currently I’m reading books about Provence in France and found some good chansons from Provence. Sitting in the sun with a good cup of coffee, reading a book and listening music is one of my best stress killers, helps living in the moment.
I also gave up on trying to control everything. I used to be a control freak and adrenalin junky, both contributed heavily to my business success but made me sick, too. Today I know, that future life is mostly out of (my) control. Giving up on feeling responsible for everybody and everything reduced may stress significantly.
Interesting. I was mega stressed at a 10 out of 10 before diagnosis. I've tried to be less stressed now. I think Melatonin helps. Praying also helps me.
Sometimes I think that more people would need a terminal disease diagnosis…not because they have to die, just like 3 months of this life and then being told “you are fine we were wrong”. There are so many things that I thought were important and that I now realize we’re not. I think I would be a better person now if I was given the chance, and I think most people in our condition would become better people.
Totally agree. I've definitely realigned my values. Since diagnosis, I have been trying to be the person that I always should have been.
Check this out...about as 'scientific' as you are going to get that stress will shorten your life, make your ailments worst and take away effectiveness of treatments...BUT its darn hard to stay positive...nonetheless we have to try. Maybe if we can be convinced of the force of our minds this change will take hold and we can better ourselves just a little by positive thinking...its not a cure but it cant hurt. Rick
Reducing stress?........ Just dump the wife.......

Taking melatonin for a long stretch of time is not advisable as eventually your body will decide that it no longer needs to be producing it on its own. It might be preferable to supplement with the l-tryptophan amino acid. Since it is a precursor of melatonin, it will help your body produce more of it.
Interesting concept
There is no feedback suppresion loop for melatonin, you can take as much as you want
Gives me the jimmy legs every time. I don't have an issue falling asleep..just staying asleep is my only issue, and I think that pre dates my cancer.
