Stuffy Ears

Hello all,

I have been on Lupron now for 14 months, out of a scheduled 24. About 5 weeks ago, I began to suffer from stuffy ears. Today, my hearing has decreased such that I can no longer hear my alarm clock or phone. I was examined by my PCP, but she didn’t see anything. She referred me to the audiologist for further work up. As I wait for this appointment, I wonder if anyone else has experienced this?

Thank you.

Yup; and moderate, constant tinnitus. I believe it is a side effect for some. Fortunately it mostly resolved for me with return of T after stopping Firmagon/Lupron & Abi.

Interesting, I've been on Prostap (UK version of Lupron) for 15 months and have been getting blocked ears for a few weeks. I thought it was wax but ear drops do nothing so I've been wondering what it is. Sounds like a SE of the ADT then.

It is probably internal rather than external wax. I could be Eustachian Tube Dysfunction which I have. I can sometimes feel blocking and popping, but have not had any hormone therapy to cause it.

No. It's probably something else, same with tinnitus. Best of luck

I mentioned this several months back and thought that most people that responded indicated might’ve come from the chemo treatment, docetaxel.

Of course, I am also on Lupron, so it could be from that, except I didn’t notice it until after I had 10 infusions of the chemo drug.

It seems when I first wake up my hearing doesn’t have that clogged feeling but it is very weak and then as I’m up and moving around several hours it begins to plug.

I did come across your comments in my search prior to my post. Since I haven’t had chemo yet, I thought I would check with others.

I'm old and losing my hearing anyway...... so I bought a set of the hidden type hearing aids (Costco of all places - best price for quality aids) and when I wear them it seems everyone is yelling....
