Reaction when first diagnosed with APCa

When I heard I had APCa I was not happy of course, but also not surprised too much since it runs heavy in my family.

It took a while to realize it was the first day of the rest of my life, And if I didn't make some changes it could be a short one. I went mostly vegetarian, committed to daily exercise, and asked for the most aggressive PCa treatment possible.

The first two changes have me fitter and feeling physically better (treatment side effects not withstanding) than in about 20 years. My wife has joined me on the journey and is also 20 years to the better.

My PCa treatment is currently working well.

Others have called their Dx day the worst one of their lives. I'm not sure I'd ever use that phrase but if I did it would be reserved for one of any other imminently fatal cancers, and to be honest if the sufferer were my wife or daughter instead.

appreciate your positive attitude.

The Stoics would say you are focused on what you can control and not worrying about what you can’t .

Hello, I reach the ten year point in October. I seize each day and grab it with both hands. Remaining positive and active are both key players.

You are doing well, stay just as you are.

I wish you all the best.

Absolutely agree with Scout! Live consciously and be aware of what you can control. And like you, I can control my diet and exercise, in addition to other healthy habits.

Every day is a new beginning, take a deep breath, smile, and start again.

Love your post and attitude. I too was rocked initially, but once I calmed down I made the same kinds of changes you did, and I'm now enjoying each day. I can even find some joy on Firmagon implant days (my time of the month).
