I don't know what effect this will have. They manufacture the MRIdian linac. They intend to sell off assets, in whole or in part. That may mean a competitor like Varian, Accuray, Siemens, or GE may snap them up to get into the MRI-guided linac business. Or maybe Elekta will use it to merge with their Unity platform. It may have implications for parts, inventory, maintenance, support and training.

ViewRay files for bankruptcy
The press release says that ViewRay will continue to support existing MRIdian and move forward with installs. Research funding and consultant support is on hold.
I saw the stock price drop to basically nothing yesterday. Dr. Kishan at UCLA uses the Viewray. I’d hoped that a competitor or med device company would have made a bid for Viewray. Probably the remnants will be scooped up at rock bottom prices. I hope so as it seems the technology is very good.
Dumb question
Can someone please give context to what and how the affected equipment relates to which specifics of which treatments or diagnostic procedures?
Thanks
They are owned by Siemens, which is the biggest company of the bunch.
I have a friend who works at Elekta. He said - our automatic gating solution is literally being released next month so that will give us another jump up. Siemens bought Varian not long ago but we have a lot of patents on MR linacs so will have a good control over developments and we have a partnership with Philips on the MR side so we have a lot of technological expertise so I think ultimately Philips may merge with Elekta.
