vaping high THC cannabis

If you take a gummy right before bed and vaping you will go to sleep and stay asleep

Pure Indica only. Sativa will give you energy not sleep

Pure Indica only. Sativa will give you energy not sleep

Indica works great for putting you to sleep, but my understanding is it reduces REM sleep, which isn’t good thing.

I think that would mean vaping is a better idea than any kind of edible gummy tincture given vapes cost out much quicker. I haven’t actually researched that yet.

For vaping or tincture I’ve found DREAMT brand to be very effective in putting me to sleep and keeping me there. The tincture has melatonin and valerian root added - the manufacture claims that those additions boost REM sleep…

I started a dream Journal and noticed that THC does not allow me to access my dreams. (Similar to REM?). Thanks for the interesting alternatives.

They both work for me as well as hybrids, as far as cost go I buy BOGO and stock up. I like the Stiizy brand vape at 89%

True especially for someone only asking for sleep advise. I dont discount Sativa though. Although I get that energy boost eventually it transitions into sleepiness.

Strong sativa makes me hallucinate and makes me paranoid. I can't imagine the nightmares I'd get on it if I took it before sleep. LOL

I've seen that in friends and family thru out my life. Definitely need to advise start with small amount and do so in a comfortable "safe place" with like minded friends otherwise can end up hiding in the closet or claiming not to feel good and hiding under the covers. A walk outdoors though can help but even that can backfire if you have that kind of reaction to Sativa. I kind of want a certain amount of trippiness. Sometimes I need to have the effect of Men in Black.

I never had trouble sleeping until I discovered to side effects of ADT. I tried several things, the only thing I found that worked for me is Zolpidem, (Ambien) 10 mg taken about 1/2 hour before bedtime. I works well if you eat a light dinner and not a lot of fat for bedtime snack. Godsend! I know many will say not to take daily, but I have taken them for over a year and the are still working with no diminished effect. I started out taking a 1/2 pill, but have been taking a whole one for a long time. Good luck.

Ambien works for me too. My GP was so paranoid about that stuff and he repeatedly warned me against the side effects. it is true that I wound up in Portland one morning (I live in Tennessee) inexplicably. But seriously, I take one-half a pill, one half a Xanax (sometimes) , One melatonin and two Advil. Sleep ok.

Agree. Melatonin and I've added Passion Flower, 500mg. Sleep pretty well.

Sebara apologies I dont think weve helped you much here with all our talk of cannabis. I was looking and it looks difficult to acquire it in Australia. Hopefully you will hear more about other meds etc. from others. If you enter insomnia in the search box I bet you find some discussions about treating sleeplessness.

Sebara,

I can't provide you with a good answer to your question other than that melatonin definitely does not work for me. A great friend told me about this guy, Andrew Huberman, PhD at Stanford and I've been watching some of his podcasts. He recommends getting some sunlight early in the morning to set your "clock"...melatonin, dopamine, seratonin, etc. I've been getting outside for ten minutes of early morning sunlight every morning for the past month. I've been falling asleep almost immediately although I often wake up at 4:00 or so and don't sleep so great afterwards. Hey, it's free and you probably have plenty of sunlight (and surfable waves) in Australia. Good luck.

Yes in a word, Melatonin. I cut a 20mg tablet in half & sleep well. I found any more than that makes me tired the next day.

My husband takes 100 mg of trazadone before bedtime- about 30 minutes before lights out. I also take trazadone. 100 mg was too much for me and 50 wasn't quite enough. I've settled on a routine of 50mg of trazadone and a cannabis gummy. I go to sleep and stay asleep until morning.

Diphenhydramine HCl 50 mg over-the-counter sleep aid.....sister has had lifetime sleep problem, and now using this to help.....it works for me too, when returning to sleep is difficult as a result of BPH -caused multiple bathroom trips at nite. My 2nd trip usually 4-5 hours after going to bed..with that 4-5 hours sleep, now having problem falling asleep again...sigh. Label does say " for occasional sleeplessness".....dire side effects with prolonged use....haven't researched that yet?

15 years stage 4 Mets, I’ve gone the cannabis route years ago for sleeping. I’ve found something better, without the medicine head next day. Here’s the recipe:

5 or 10 mg melatonin

1 tablet Performance Sleep, ordered from UK

300 mg gabapentin.

I sleep very well and have no medicine head the next day. Currently I am on ADT/Erleada.

Melatonin as Magnus suggested is the first natural substance you should try. It is the bodies sleep hormone and if you are under stress your cortisol will be high and suppressing your melatonin. I use melatonin occasionally with no worries but what I also use is wild lettuce (Latuca verosa), it is my go to pain med also as it has zero side effects. I end up taking it in increasing dosage depending on the pain severit.you can buy it on Amazon but It the costs of all of our supplements add up so i would suggest wild harvesting your own and making the medicine yourself. Chat me up if you want more guidance on that. John

I am surprised to see so many advocating 'cannabis'. I was a licensed grower for years and learned a lot.

I went 'without' for the most part - too much of a stimulant for me - BUT - there are a few facts that might help.

Genetics is everything and a lot of what is available out there isn't worth it.

Another KEY factor - AGING - once cannabis reaches about 2+ years old it changes chemically and becomes more of a 'sleeper' than it ever was as a 'new' crop.

My oldest (high grade) cannabis known as 'Critical Jack' works wonders, but I can still do without. I only need a tiny bit - equivalent of a puff or two - but I found that it might be a 'bonus' in terms of an extra hour or more.

I suggest trying something else - I take 20 milligrams of TIMED RELEASE Melatonin about 45 - 60 minutes before lights out.

I also use a particular form of Magnesium - BISGLYCINATE @ 200 mg that helps sleeping (take 1 45 - 60 mins before lights out).

I take an antidepressant (Zoloft - 200 mg) at the same time - it also helps but seeing as MOST don't take that type of medication - there is a third add on for the others - you want to get a supplement that targets body / muscle relaxation - there are several that I could mention - ashwaganda - L-Theanine (and other formulations that use it as a primary ingredient).

AVOID any 'addictive' sleeping prescriptions - they will BACKFIRE eventually and cause more problems and a need to de-tox - and find another solution.

There are many 'herbal' candidates to examine but too much of anything or too many supplements might cause unwanted side effects (that certainly happened to me).

There's also the good 'practices' - NO PHONES or electronic devices used after a 'deadline' and I also change my night lighting to soft green (nothing else) to help the night cycle begin in a CALMING way. I can still watch TV with the GREEN lights - but the point is you need to create an environment to get better sleep.

You can also PLAY night sleeping 'calming' noise - check it out on YouTube - many choices, but mostly you get an 8 hour block of 'waves' or natural sounds and calming frequencies to get your mind OFF of stimulating thoughts.

Wishing you the best on your journey ....

I take a cannabis sleep gummy that has passionflower extract with 5 mg each of THC, CBN, and CBD, along with 10 mg of melatonin.

My problem is falling to sleep. No problem with that. My problem is that I can’t fall back asleep when I have to get up to pee. The gummy and melatonin seems to help by keeping me relaxed enough to fall back asleep and, frequently, I don’t even wake up to pee.

These are the two that I use:

amazon.com/gp/product/B0045...

I alternate them and use 1-2 times a week so I don't get habituated.

I can use these every night (I put them on around 6:30 pm).

amazon.com/gp/product/B000U...

I try to stay away from all TV, computers, electronics, after 8 pm.

Melatonin helps some people. I avoid caffeine after noon, and I try not to exercise after 6 or 7 pm.

Trazodone 50mg at bedtime is a good place to start. Works quite well. It is used off label as a sleep aid, especially for older folks. It was originally developed as an antidepressant but wasn’t too successful in that regard. Trazodone is also often prescribed for irritable bowel syndrome.

I switch between 5 mg of melatonin and one advil pm.

The active ingredient for sleeping in Advil PM is Diphenhydramine (Benadryl).

Unless you have pain that needs the Advil, you’d save money, and the blood thinning effects of Advil, by just taking a generic Benadryl.

I use melatonin 3mg or Lunesta (eszopiclone), when I really need to sleep through the night. I fall asleep easily but wake up 2-4 hours after that and can't fall back to sleep, sometimes for hours. A single night with Lunesta is safe for me, however I avoid taking it for more than a couple of nights in a row because of alleged side effects.

Try mirtazapine. Although marketed as an antidepressant, at very low doses it is a potent sedative. If you can get 15mg tabs you can take a quarter of that and see how it works for you. 7.5mg should work as well. Above 15mg it begins to lose its sedative effect and the antidepressant effect becomes more noticeable.

Try not to use it every day to avoid developing a physical dependence.

I have never used any "stuff" to fall and stay asleep. You may laugh but as I've said before, I build a log cabin (log by log) in my mind. You can use any tools or equipment since it's all in your mind. I start with a foundation and never get to complete the first floor and I'm fast asleep the whole night.

As they say "A mind is a beautiful thing to waste".

Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.

I take tylenol, which seems to deaden the nerves, allowing me to get up to pee less often. Also, lately I read online that dim light during sleep can be harmful, so I put up drapes over my bedroom window. Check here, dim light at night causes cancer. geneticlifehacks.com/light-...

I am the first person ever to tell my dad to stay away from another medication...and happily he does. Of course, when he couldn't sleep, and had restless legs keeping him up at night, and sciatic pain, he was given a script for Ambien! Never took one when I had him read the side effects, AND when I gave him another option to try. He started with a 2mg of what I have mentioned below, and that did nothing.

But, he has found that a dose every night of a marijuana gummy of 5 mg indicaTHC that is combined with 10 mg of CBD is very calming and relaxing.

He has no pain, sleeps through the night and never has odd dreams, or wakes up groggy. (and my dad is 87 and never been even a drinker)

If you are not open to using medical marijuana, then there are CBD gummies that are good, I would just be sure you know the source you are getting them from as a lot of them have odd fillers.

To your sweet dreams,

Dawn

THC in any form (prefer edibles), but you might want to have some CBD available as a counter to the THC in case you take too much.

sleep disorders are really tough. Every sleep medication that has been looked at closely destroys the quality of our sleep and increases the risk of things like Alzheimer’s including Benadryl. On the other hand no sleep is not healthy either. You have lost confidence in your ability to sleep. I have found that lots of exercise early in the day, going to bed only when I am really sleepy, not allowing myself to sleep too long, never lying in bed longer than 15 minutes, and listening to boring historical novels as I go to sleep have helped me.

melatonin makes me drowsy but I soon wake up to pee… and again every 2 hours for the past five years. Very little true rem sleep.

Recently my mo suggested a single 300mg Gabapentin an hour before bed. Now I still get up maybe once, then sleep through, 4-5 hours in a row. Love it.

After surgery I was on gaba 3x a day, made me drift in and out of light sleep all day, not fun. But 1x, very different.

Btw I’m a cannabis devotee, I grow my own as it’s the only way to know your weed is free if pesticides and fungicides. I use a dry vape - no added chemistry. Much easier on the lungs vs smoking. Plus you can calibrate which terpenes etc vape off by adjusting the temperature. Thc for an energetic day, day, 160celcius. Sleepy time, crank it up to 210.
