Zoladex side effects surprises

so I have just spent 8 days in hospital with what turned out to be breathing issues and congestion due to parainfluenza (tested by PCR swab) apparently more common in young children - now whilst I have comorbidities and many with muy conditions are often supported by hospital admission for chest and respiratory viruses - oddly ( or rather luckily) I rarely actually get many respiratory infections. I was last of hospital for that with pleurisy some 25 plus s years ago.

Now I check the side effects of Zoladex which I’m in my 6th month of a planned 24 post RT and I see that increased colds and respiratory infections is listed as a side effect - not that in stopping because of it but I hadn’t heard of this and don’t quite see what the connection or causal link could be ! Any ideas ? Of course mine may be just post pandemic susceptibility who knows !

And whilst I asking for info - I had my Zoladex done in hospital and the nurse had to look up YouTube to do it (plus my help ) I’m sure it’s fine but I am noticing that I am having almost no hot flushes a week on. Maybe the virus has had some effect but slightly puzzled and begun to think - did the implant actually go in!!? On the other hand I hear that despite what is mostly reported by people some say that the hot flushes get less as your body adapts - just seems odd timing.

Hello Sim, As to SE of Zoladex. I have recently had my second jab of Zoladex & have noticed the hot flushes become more frequent as it wears off. Increased cholesterol, muscle cramps, effects of phenomena or excessive mucus & some mild heart pains that I have never had before. The doctor put me on Atorvachol tablets hoping that would explain the heart pains.

I was on Firmagon before & had less SE but injection every month was a problem.

thanks John - it certainly is and as I’m sure you know the hardest bit is how just when you come to tolerate the worry and stress of where you are with it - it Juno’s up and throws another truck to unsettle you - also as I had polio as a kid and so having various issue as I age with that - I never am quite sure what is my own benign if uncomfortable polio ageing and what is a serious side effect of my PCa treatments !
