Has anyone else participated in the "MSK Impact" testing of their tumor, and if so how long did it take to get results? Been waiting for my husbands for about 11 weeks.

thanks

My last experience was about a year ago and it took about 6 weeks. It doesn’t show up in the portal so talk to your doc’s admin to see if they have it to send to you.

Yes in my case it took 16 weeks had to request additional tumor block. That is how they found my Brca2 and an AKT1 mutation.

Is that their proprietary genomic test? I hope there is something useful for you.

yes. they took blook for analysis of his genes and then the tumor, made it seem like it would be very valuable to know. I was concerned about a mutation (am concerned) and so really thought it sounded like a good idea. 4 brothers, 2 sons...want to try to see if there is something a) for husband and b) something insightful for others to maybe be aware. but still waiting :(

and BTW, not sure if you remember our prior posts/interactions. they are not recommending any radition for now. PSA < .05 so just monitoring now.

My understanding when I signed an extensivebconsent that it was part of a clinical trial

So i have not participated in Impact Testing but have a story that is relevant. My MO ordered a genetic test on my renegade prostate. I filled out all of the forms giving permission to send it and I waited. And waited. And waited.

As it turned out insurance was waiting for some information/justification from my MO.

Then after the justification was obtained the data didn’t naturally flow into the portal software and sat in an envelope for a period of time proverbially on my MO’s desk.

It took months to get past both hurdles. To get past the first hurdle I called the testing company directly to find out what the holdup was and then made sure my MO knew they were waiting on him.

The second hurdle was easier, I just kept asking on the portal to release my results….weekly….until i received results.

The bottom line is your MO is surrounded by people that might not be the most diligent/helpful in keeping things in front of your MO or the MO is not organized or the software they depend on stinks. Regardless you fall through the cracks.

You have to be persistent in a friendly way.
