Very true, just because a patient might have different side effects, and give reasons from the norm, maybe a bit of patience from the Doctor, might reward everybody in the long run?

Maybe there should be a course or more for all medical folks on how to listen.

In a way all of us being treated for disease are guinea pigs, or human lab rats. Doctors would be foolish not to listen to feedback they get from their patients regarding efficacy of treatment, side effects, and possible discoveries made by patients. It's even possible medical breakthroughs could be made this way. If your doctor thinks he knows it all, maybe it's time to find another doctor.

But unfortunately, a lot of doctors don't seem to schedule enough time at appointments to listen to patients concerns or opinions, probably because they are so busy. From The Atlantic: "Starting in the late 20th century, medical groups asserted that America had an oversupply of physicians. In response, medical schools restricted class sizes. From 1980 to 2005, the U.S. added 60 million people, but the number of medical-school matriculants basically flatlined." There are also other policies of the medical profession still in place which result in limiting the supply of doctors. The US ranks near the bottom of developed countries for number of physicians per 10,000 people. Shouldn't the free market apply to the medical profession like it does to the rest of us? Is there another profession in the US that has policies to limit its number of members like the medical profession does to protect their income? I can't think of one. 🦊
