Normal, sort of

My dear husband is stage IV. In late November he picked up Influenza A, brought home by my adult 24 year old daughter from work. He got better and then got bad again. Today we leaned he is Covid positive, but seems to be on the recovery end of it.

He has had 5 vaccine and booster. But earlier in the week his blood oxygen was in the 80s, but he tested negative for Covid, but we learned 77% of negative tests are wrong.

He seems to be recovering, ate normally for the first time in weeks, but his hemoglobin is 8.7.

So I am glad he feels better and is finally eating and drinking again. But I am worried about him being so anemic. His hemoglobin was 10.1 on December 14, but now it it 8.7 and he is not on any cancer drugs. How bad is this?

He is waiting to get into a BITE clinical trial. He should know about that next week. If not, he will try Jevtana. He had been on Radium 223, so there has to be a 6 month gap before they can consider LU 177. So yes, currently not on any drugs for cancer. ☹️

No, I am not familiar with that drug. I will ask his doctor at the appointment next week. Thank you!

I am guessing the anemia is secondary to Xofigo. It is significant and might cause fatigue or even shortness of breath with exercise. It may improve off of Xofigo if the next therapy does not have that as a side effect.
