Can’t comment on the UK pricing, but I have had 2 treatments in Sydney, Australia at a cost of A$5,500 per treatment. (About £3000?).
So far after the 2 treatments my PSA has gone from 836 to 87. No side effects worth mentioning. Third treatment booked for Jan 12.
Good luck.
thank you
Would you give some more information $5500 for foreign patient. I hope go there some day. Thank you very much for your time
My treatment is at St Vincent’s public hospital in Sydney. It is a not for profit hospital and charges me what it costs them so A$5,500 is very much a base rate. I don’t know how they would handle a non Australian patient. I was required to get a referral from my MO. There are commercial facilities available in Australia which provide Lutetium treatment and I have heard of charges around A$10,000 or A$11,000 per treatment.
Should point out that St Vincent’s is also a leading Research hospital and conducts a number of Clinical trials. I was actually accepted for the Evolutian trial which compares Lutetium alone with Lutetium plus immunotherapy drugs, however the requirements of the trial were too onerous for me to accept.
thank you
My husband da brother lives in Sydney but husband not fit for such a trip sadly
Fortis Memorial in New Dehli is USD 5500 pr tretment, almost 1/4 of prices in Europe
I believe its about £13K a treatment in the UK. Extraordinarily expensive when you consider you might need 4 cycles of the treatment. Perhaps the price will come down?
It is offered by the Royal Marden royalmarsden.nhs.uk/royal-m... and the Wellington hcahealthcare.co.uk/our-ser... I suggest you inquire the cost there.
It depends on your situation, sometimes two cycles are enough. Often you will need four or six cycles.
Use the search bar, there have been lots of discussions on this topic.
I was in a clinical trial scheduled for 6 cycles, but quit after 5 sessions... PSA dropped after the first, but steadily rose thereafter. Scans showed what MO termed "stable" disease, with some old mets showing less uptake but also new mets appearing and then growing.
Very few side effects with first four infusions: minor fatigue for a few days, and nausea that I managed to prevent in later infusions by taking ondansetron (Zofran). But on the fifth infusion the SEs were much worse, which I attribute to being dehydrated. It is VERY important to hydrate the days before, of, and after infusion -- radiation is removed via urination!
The worst SE for me was that I became more and more anemic over the months, gradually shifting from the mild anemia I had with ADT for the past two years to what would be termed "moderate" anemia. While not needing transfusions, that seemed to lead to more fatigue and shortness of breath on exertion, which remains even a few months after my last infusion. This is not a common SE, but can happen, so watch your blood counts!
thank you for the information
Hope you are doing ok at the moment
It’s a tough journey
