Prostate Cancer and Prostatic Diseases, 1-3, 2022
Background
The prevalence of sleep disturbances among prostate cancer (PCa) survivors, and extent of urologist involvement in sleep care are not well-studied.
Methods
PCa survivors (n = 167) and urologists (n = 145) were surveyed about sleep disturbances and survivorship care practices.
Results
Most PCa survivors had sleep disturbances, including 50.9% with poor sleep quality, 18.0% with clinical/severe insomnia, and 36.5% at high-risk for sleep apnea. Few urologists routinely screened for sleep disturbances, as recommended in national cancer survivorship guidelines.
Conclusions
Optimal PCa survivorship care should incorporate screening for sleep disturbances, addressing comorbid factors affecting sleep and referring to sleep medicine when appropriate.

Interesting. DH has had restless leg syndrome for years prior to diagnosis for PC. It has gotten worse and he has been diagnosed with sleep apnea and rem sleep disturbance. Lots of movement, flailing and thrashing arms and talking during sleep. Sleep is better with cpap use and pramipexole.
I didn't fit the usual profile so my primary care doctor shrugged off my complaints about fatigue. My Electrophysiologist (a-fib ablation surgeon) insisted that I get sleep tested before the ablation surgery. Sure enough I had obstructive sleep apnea big time. I now use a CPAP machine. One interesting effect is that I often sleep the entire night without having to get up to take a pee break. My advice is to get sleep tested. You might be surprised at the findings.
Hello Graham……. Nocturnia has not let me sleep more than 90 minutes straight for almost 8 yrs. .. many take sleep aids .I take 4.5 naltrexone and 2 mgs melatonin prior to bed each night .. it is a fitful restless type of slumber . Waking in the morns half the time I’m tired when My feet hit the floor . Se la ve .. 😎✌️ Keep rocking!
Hi Lu, I have found that 300 mg of Relora in the evening, 10 mg of melatonin before bed and feet up for an hour or two before bed helps the kidneys to remove excess fluid from the body and to have a good pee before bed.
I take two kinds of melatonin, plain and with Theanine. I also take a potent CBD gummy. My home grown Blue Cookies indica dominant herb, which I occasionally use, is quite effective. I've got another crop going that is three weeks in and doing fine so far. BTW, I followed Kaliber's instructions and got some de-carbed edible material now which allows me to avoid smoking it. Just a few bits on a peanut butter cracker and away I go.
