memory loss after radiation?

WhistlersMother59 profile image

My husband had 45 days of radiation condensed into a 5 day treatment in Florida 4 years ago. Since then his thyroid has weakened along with his teeth. However it’s his memory and bad choices that are concerning me.

Is this a common side effect of radiation?

Thank you.

This is not a common side effect of radiation to the prostate. The memory could be affected by hormone therapy and the teeth could be affected by bone targeting agents. It is probably caused in part by his age too.

It is not at all a side effect of prostate radiation.

“ Bad choices” that’s not good! Did he do adt also at the same time? I had a pretty severe cognitive decline not to mention physical .. after imrt ,Lupron and another adt pill . My teeth bones and joints are all in decline since treatment almost 8 yrs ago and just having 3 T is another culprit of decline .. many of us pay the same price. Some guys say they haven’t declined . I think that some are in denial , or just lucky .

Do you mean that just having a 3T MRI can cause cognitive decline? Is it the contrast dye that causes it? Thanks for any info you might have on this.

No Sir! With 3 T I’m speaking about 3 testosterone levels or being castrated . Simply having no testosterone can effect everything male including cognition …

I agree. For me it’s forgetting words/names. Either it’s the ADT or I’m getting dumb.

✌️💪hang in there . What choice do we have? I chose to live depleted rather than to die .

obviously I chose the same. By the way my old user name was Carlo 86. Lost it some how in the change. Hope you are doing well.

Hey Carlo86 ! I remember you . Is your t level 163 ? Mine has been 3 for almost 8 yrs now ! and what a ride it has been and still is? I too once changed names here and I’ve dropped off a few times also ..There is so much pain and suffering aboard that it’s a lot to take on . Take care ,
