Does anyone know how palliative radiation to bone typically affects PSA? PSA starting to rise two months after radiation to active spots. I thought it would go down for a while at least. thanks!

PSA after palliative radiation
You may be getting new growth elsewhere. The radiation was to reduce pain and fractures. I hope it did what it was supposed to do for you.
Radiation might not effect PSA. The rise may be do other affected areas.
PSA may go down and stay down for a while when treating all the mets in oligo metastatic patients ( less than 4 metastases) .
Grumpy recently had 5 days of radiation to a spot in his femur. He wasn't having pain so it was done to reduce chance of fracture. Our MO (not the RO) said there would probably be a false drop in his PSA due to the radiation.
Grumpy is due for another PSA next week so we'll know then. However, his PSA was already dropping from his current treatment. My guess is that it's all in the timing of the PSA test and your other current treatments or lack of treatment.
