Does anyone out there have any experience with hyperbaric chambers?

I told him I have stage four prostate cancer, when I told him.

I will ask my doctors but it came to my attention that a neighbor has one.

I asked him how much a session and he only said buy buy four get one free,

so I did not text back.

I know a few guys who did HBOT for radiation-induced injuries. Why did you want to use it?

Hi Tall Allen, I am 6'4" so I could be tall Jim. Ok so I really did not say I want to use it. My question is if anyone has and if there is a benefit for our readers who have stage four prostate cancer. As well, has anyone come across information that suggests a true benefit. And I do not mean burn victims etc. I mean the aforementioned, Happy Thanksgiving.

Hello Tall Allen. On a slightly different note concerning HBOT, have you heard of it helping in the formation of scar tissue at the urinary sphincter after a Transurethral Resection? The TUR opened me up too much and now dealing with full incontinence. After one year of waiting for scar tissue to grow back it has not grown back enough. I'm wondering if HBOT would aid in the formation of a bit more scar tissue.Tks if you have any info.

Yes, I remember a patient he used it for that. You may also want to discuss collagenase injections directly into the scar tissue.

Hello TA. I have been diagnosed with Hemorrhagic Cystitis caused by 8 weeks of IMRT last year. The bleeding is exacerbated when I do physical exercise that uses my core muscles. My Urologist believes that HBOT may help with the healing.

I've known patients who got relief from incessant bleeding with HBOT.

What would be the goal? My husband had 40 rounds this summer. He had a tremendous response as far as his radiation cystitis.

If you are wondering if it did anything to help his widespread skeletal bony metastases, it did not.

Seems like there would be no harm. It's probably helpful to any form of tissue damage healing.

So how much does it for a hour session?

Maybe it could help rejuvenate between chemo rounds.

The issue is you don't want it to also rejuvenate the cancer

The treatment will not affect the cancer, it may help repair the effect of Chemo. A fantastic treatment for many problems but not Cancer

My husband had 45 hyperbaric treatments for the lesions in his bladder caused from radiation. It healed them but it didn't help his cancer in any way that we know of. He is stage 4.

I went through 30 sessions HBOT for radiation relation cystitis as well as calcification of my offstage. Prior to (proton beam) radiation I had a TURP. The combo of those created many problems. Correct there can be no harm is HBOT for cancer but I’ve never heard of it doing anything for cancer. Also the home versions of these will not be same as hospital quality. They are probably fine for some healing but not what you’re talking about. Good luck.

Does Cancer like oxygen?............

I think the best thing is to research and decide for yourself about Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy.

There are so many sites that explain it better than I can. 🌹🍏

I'm finally using the WWW, lol

I have not heard it recommended in the context of PC. My only contact was that I once had a (dental) patient who'd received radiotherapy to the head area for a salivary cancer and required multiple dental extractions. (Medication-related osteonecrosis has been frequently discussed here, but osteoradionecrosis of the jaws has been around far longer, and is possible even more devastating). The idea is that HBO will decrease the incidence of ONJ in irradiated tissue.

My dog was bit by a copperhead snake on a rear leg several years ago. The emergency vet office had a hyperbaric chamber to help her survive.

She went in for two 45 mins session four hour apart.

She responded great and recovered quickly.

if you decide to pursue HBOT, then check out your neighbor’s unit carefully. It is not just an oxygen concentrator enriched space. Requires a sealed pressurized chamber with controlled oxygen delivery and monitoring. Very expensive for personal use. Color me skeptical.

I had HBO therapy for bleeding and clots shortly after my Brachytherapy for 5 weeks? in 2012. It was a mess but doctors said stick with it and you will see that it works. My last week of therapy the clots and bleeding completely stop. My RO did say it would’ve resolved itself in time anyway. It did seem to be helping others with their assortment of cancer and non cancer related ailments.
