Who is the Best or Number 1 Advanced Prostate Cancer Physician is the World or in the USA?

Maybe better stated as most cited?

This includes Urologist, Medical Oncologist, Radiation Oncologist etc…

This question is being asked because it seems that on boards, pages and support groups, some people seem to think their longevity, success with treatments and over all survival is based on the physician skill.

Yes, it is certainly important. But there is no "one" who is best. There are lots of excellent ones, and they can usually be found at the top institutions. It depends on who is doing the evaluation. I, for example, tend to value leaders in their field, who have published important, highly cited studies. Others may value doctors who spend more time with patients and who show empathy or willingness to engage in shared decision making. Others prefer a doctor who inspires confidence and makes comforting claims. Still others may value doctors who market themselves to patients using youtube videos or speeches at patient meetings.

There are lots.

Each one is different, and is best for specific conditions, treatments, or patients.

The question assumes a 1 dimensional world.

But the real world has many many many dimensions.

So.... you are asking the wrong question.

No one person is the best. You should pick an established group at a prostate cancer center of excellence. You should feel comfortable with them in the decision making process. No one group has the cure but well informed patients seeking different opinions will probably get the best recommendations and up to date treatments.

There is a technical term for that used in animal laboratory behavioral testing. It's called "superstition" .... the animal comes to believe in cause and effect that doesn't exist and that belief affects their behavior.

Patients are generally happy with their physician’s if things are going well. A collaborative group will provide better care. No group is better than the other. Most groups participate in similar clinical trials. If your happy with your local urologist, oncologist than you should stick with them.

I think the question is akin to asking me which of my tools in my tool box is the best tool.

It depends on what I am doing, what I am attempting to accomplish, and how I am attempting to accomplish it.

Try again asking which docs are best for which purposes and WHY.

I have run boards, list serves and platforms for 25 years. Frequent citations by patients is a weak metric. I’ve met great doctors never cited. I understand the intent of your question and respect your quest for a response.

Dr. Eugene Kwon at the Mayo Clinic, MN, considers himself a very aggressive oncologist (he is actually a Urologist).

This is the only Physician we ever hear about, somehow we both knew this would be the answer….just don’t want to travel so far away for treatment

you could also check out Dr Gray Onik in Fort Lauderdale, fl. FL. However he does not take insurance. Good Luck.

TA already provided an answer which I followed as well. I would just like to add, that the absolute #1 should be you! You are the pilot of your life, don’t let anybody else placing you in the rear seat of the bus. Try to learn as much as possible about PC, get as much info as possible, stay up to date, exchange with others, try things out. You won’t find a doctor with a 100% holistic approach customized for you. All treatments are key, but we can do so much more: CV exercise, weight lifting, resistance training, meditation, whole food plant based diet (no sugar, no oil, no alcohol), time restricted eating, stress reduction and more. Don’t rely on „the one doctor with the one therapy“ giving all responsibility for your life and potential cure in somebody‘s else hand. You are the pilot! And don’t forget: It’s not only PC which can make your life more miserable. Your body and mind should be in the best shape possible to survive the treatments well and fight other potential diseases, which you might come as side effects. These are just my recommendations which help(ed) me a lot and maybe you find something valuable for you, too.

Good morning, I understand what you were asking. I think Nusch gave the most honest and correct advice. It is a combination of things, not one specific dr.........for Me, I try to do what my husband thinks is best for him, and respect his choices............I do wish there was a group of us wives that could chat with each other. Perhaps there is and i dont know because i am so lost with technology.🌹🦚
