RO Recommendation

Can anyone recommend an RO between Providence RI and Boston MA for adjuvant/salvage EBRT after a RALP? I currently have a RO but it's not a great fit and I am not scheduled for radiation nutil November because of my travel schedule so there is plenty of time to explore other options.

Anthony D’Amico at Dana Farber treated me last winter. Has extensively published on Adjuvant v Salvage. Wonderful experience. Very accessible. Also met Paul Nguyen. He too is outstanding.

I have messaged with a doctor that oversees a well-known proton center. Years ago, when he had bladder cancer, he chose Mass General as one of the doctors at Mass General was more experienced treating bladder cancer than those working under him.

You will hear conflicting opinions here but, in the end, it is your body and your decision.

Interesting about Beth Israel--I spoke with one of the people in their imaging department several years--no, in the autumn of 2015. They had an older GE MRI and used an endorectal probe to better identify prostate cancers. Pathology results on prostate tissues gave them a --I believe--a mid 90% success rate in identifying prostate cancers. their success rate was on the net--on their site--it wasn't just word of mouth.

It could only be better now I would think.

I had two "endorectal MRIs" at MSKcc............... First one doable with some discomfort.

Second one "PURE TORTURE, TORTURE, TORTURE..... felt like a hot poker up my rectum for 45 minutes.....(from start to finish),,,,,,

It is my understanding that men who choose hyperthermia as a treatment have a metal rod inserted in their penis, up through the urethra past the prostate. They then lay down while magnets heat the rod and surrounding tissue to about 102 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit. This is done for maybe five days a week for about a month. I read about the Klinik Marinus and their treatment protocol back then. Klinik Marinus is now closed. I messaged with a man that had this a as treatment and I chose not to.

Hyperthermia seems to be popular in Europe.

Thank you for giving me goosebumps......Did you notice that picture of the small Quonset hut style building with the sign above "KLINIC ST. GEORG"? Apparently a patient who still had enough strength was able to remove the letter E for excruciating.

I guess the MRI I endured is considered a walk in the park.....Now my only worries are that I might have nightmares.....Thanks again....

You can't go wrong with MassGeneralBrigham/Dana-Farber.

There are so many hundreds of abbreviations in oncology that you can't assume we know that RALP is Robotic-Assisted Laparoscopic Prostatectomy.

I second the Anthony D’Amico recommendation. He was my RO. Spent two cold months up there mid-January through mid-March this year. If you choose to go that route, your sessions could be at Dana Farber or Brigham and Women’s, which adjoin one another — I did sessions at both places.
