I've read his book and blog and switched to Vegan after diagnosis with occasional fish. After consulting with two Integrative Medicine specialists at two of the top centers for cancer research in the country, they both said the same thing. They do not recommend a Vegan diet but it can't hurt. I loosened my diet a little more to have the occasional chicken breast, or even a hamburger once in a blue moon. What's life worth if you don't "live a little." They said keeping your BMI under 25, exercising regularly, lowering stress, and avoiding alcohol as much as possible were the top 4 things you can do that studies show make a significant difference. As far as diet, any well balanced diet that has a high portion of fruits and vegetables, especially cruciferous vegetables and small portions of animal protein is wise while trying to avoid fatty animal protein and high-fat dairy.
Personally I also avoid high choline dietary sources (eggs).
If you're not doing vegan for animal morality or environmental reasons, I think it's too extreme for the little benefit.
Sounds reasonable. How about days where you only consume fatty meats, fatty dairy, or both, but still keep caloric consumption within caloric expenditure?
That's a good question I have no idea the answer. That also is similar to the question, what if I stop taking my supplements for 3 days leading up to my PSA test to make sure they aren't masking my PSA - do I risk cancer resurging in those 3 days? No one has a clue and I don't think there's even a way you could prove these things one way or the other.
I've got some antioxidants lying around that I don't take daily, like Curcumin and Pomegranate extract. If I plan on having a couple glasses of wine, or a hamburger, I take the antioxidants before and after as good measure. No idea if it makes a difference but there's no big downside I can think of in doing it.
You have to be a sceptic on his writings as he is big into the animal rights movement and seems to want to put an end to eating animals. Balanced diet is best , only my opinion.
You have a point, but everyone defines "balanced diet" differently, and everyone thinks they are on one.
Hi Mike! Sorry we have to meet this way sir, but good to see an alum aboard. I'm a follower of Dr. Greger so thanks for sharing.

In the early 1990's there was an article in a popular Canadian magazine about a dentist going all vegan mostly seaweed based that was Cancer free until he got tired of the dues.Life magazine has a similar article a few years later. Got to wonder?
And all those studies that have failed to show any dietary efficacy in remediation of cancer cells must be wrong then! Lmao!
I have yet to find a legitimate study, with controls, that can exhibit any efficacy via diet, in controlling cancer!
Steve Jobs tried that too...
Remember how little anything that happens to mice, or in a petri dish, translate to actual reality once in a human body!
