ADT collagen/cartilage issues

Taking a pole

I’m in my 4th year of ADT (eligard/Zytiga) and my joints are weaker..most Achilles issues. now both my eyes are affected..vitriol membrane humour separation leaving me with dancing Weiss ring floaters disrupting my field if vision. I’m quite myopic so they tell me it’s a risk factor. Wonder if any longtime ADT survivors have experienced this nuisance.

It is true that seriously myopic eye has elongated eye balls. And that is a risk factor for floaters and worse retinal detachment. In people with cancer ,this risk goes further up as cancer is a hypercoagulable disease...meaning the risk of clot formation is higher than others. Thats why many of men with PCa take Aspirin 81 mg/day and /or Nattokinase...to minimize the risk of clot formation. If someone is on blood thinners like Warfarin, they should not take aspirin or any natural blood thinners such as Garlic, Ginger, Turmeric etc. That can lead to too much blood thinning.

BTW...the treatment of vitreous leak or retinal detachment is surgical. The vitreos fluid is removed and replaced with new fluid..its called Vitrectomy. If retina is detached ,it is stiched back in place by laser beams.

Could just be age.

Exactly what my thinking was - I've had floaters due to vitriol membrane humour separation for about 10 years now. Didn't need PCa to have that happen - just severe nearsightedness until cataract surgery cured that - and age will do it. Luckily I found an excellent eye doctor who zapped my bleeding retina and stopped the leakage. He got to do it again about a year later on the other eye.

It's one thing I don't blame on Lupron.. 😜

Not really what I want to hear lol.I just went thru that and had my follow up visit last week.

It is common as we get older though.

A few months ago I was getting that hairline lightning bolt sliver in my vision and a black curtain in the corner of my eye along with the largest floater(s) I ever had.

Looked on the internet and best to get checked right away because if retina is detaching treatment/surgery is more successful within the first 2 to 3 days.

Anyway my retina was fine but was being pulled/tugged on by the vitreous fluid drying/thickening up for lack of a better term.

It has cleared up on its own (no treatment) over the last 3 months.

Impressive Nally, 18 months..I’ve been undetectable for 3+ Years..now down below detection..but my Doc is terrified for me taking a holiday. I’m sure my genetics haven’t resolved under treatment so I’m a bit timid as well. I’m back at swimming and always walking the dog ..Thing is I’ve never suffered as some from treatment but it i’msure it’s still taking its toll. It’s too late for the eyes I managed to limp through the first vit tear without surgery and now my left eye has begun its long tense separation from my retina..lightning flashes in my corner field of vision…maybe not as bad or just know what to expect..for anyone interested , I patch my eye for long periods which seems to quell the light storms. Anyway I guess it’s just what it is, possibly treatment enhanced. I do very much appreciate the feedback..everyone’s so willing to so readily share here. Slava Ukraini

F🇺🇦k putin.......im walking around with torn achillies now.....i belive stairs the culprit....dont want to do surgery yet..30 days off feet i think...cant stop moving....grim reaper on my tail...masquerading as rising psa...

Maybe just age. I'm in my 50s and in the last few years need driving glasses. And myopia glasses to watch movies. Now the small print on bottles is getting smaller (companies are saving ink. Yeah, that must be it!)

When I do ADT I add back some estrogen. It helps with bone deterioration (my last DEXA scan showed some bone density increase). Helps with many other things too. The downside is more probability of gyno.

You don't have a problem with your eyes when reading...... it's your arms, they're getting too short.........

No idea of your age, you can judge by this: Lupron or Eligard from 2004 - 2010. Heavy duty chemotherapy cocktail for six months. Metastatic in 2004. No treatment after 2010. I have floaters, gout, and MD; all of which is do to age. I am 75. Floaters and MD started two years ago. I have been taking 81 mg of Ecotrin since 2002 after a double bypass. Professor Opthamologist says it’s hell to get old.

No. They evidently dissipate. Got one nagging that I don’t think about, but it’s there. I think it is a bug sometimes. Lol. Right now I don’t see it, but it’s there. Like I said the larger ones dissipate

Both my ‘floaters’ are in the shape of rings not spots…and are quite large. ..they are the remnants of the VH membrane that normally surround the optic nerves portal out of the back of the eyeball..’Weiss rings’..I assume them to be partially connected to the retina. IOW they remain tethered. The originally affected right eye is now plagued a year and some. No sign of dissipation. After 3 days it seems my left eyes settling down from its separation..much fewer lightning flashes…Whew. There’s a newer treatment for these lady Macbethian pests..it’s called laser vitreolysis by means of YAG. Not readily available where I live in the far reaches of the Canadian Rockies. Not complaining just saying. I can definitely cope especially in the event of my retina being spared.
