Long distance bicycle riding causes PSA to increase in men aged 50 years and over

Conclusions: Cycling causes an average 9.5% increase in tPSA, in healthy male cyclists ≥50 years old, when measured within 5 minutes post cycling. We considered the increase clinically significant as the number of participants with an elevated PSA, according to established cut-offs, increased post-ride. Based on the research published to date, the authors suggest a 24-48 hour period of abstinence from cycling and ejaculation before a PSA test, to avoid spurious results.

I'm known locally and on STRAVA as Psycho Johnny for good reason. Not too many 68yo Orchie recipients who bicycle 5 miles with Mr. Foley along in place plus leg bag following a biopsy just to say hi to send off the group of riders on a Saturday morning ride. We all were treated to a FULL MOON on Saturday so I got out yesterday at 12:27am since weather was better than Saturday and finished the day's riding with 101.02 miles. Made my pre-birthday distance ride of 72 miles plus some extra for good measure plus it was also a celebratory ride for my negative PSMA PET PYLARIFY Scan I had on Tuesday.

ROCK ON the best u can y'all 👍👍

I certainly don't have an ejaculation issue. Snicker, snicker. So, does weight lifting also cause a temporary increase in PSA? I'll never know. Just bought an E-bike to circumvent this problem. Unfortunately I crashed on first ride and damned near broke my wrist. Almost healed, so just about ready to feel the wind in my ... well I don't have much hair left. I feel the negative vibes from family and friends about my new hobby. Prostate cancer metastasized to bones. I'm going to make a helmet of two layers of tin foil this time. Don't want to take any chances. Do you think I'm going to get up at 12:27 am to see the full moon? Psycho Johnny is way up there on my hero list. I do have a list with j-o-h-n on it. Ride bikes, avoid the subway.

Very timely written as I have a PSA test coming up and wanted to know how long I needed to be off my bike before my blood draw.

Yeah well, maybe if long distance riders used a plush, comfortable seat instead of the conventional hard narrow seat that resembles the Spanish Horse torture device maybe PSA wouldn't go up as much for cyclists? I'm serious.
