Xtandi in Europe

I have been doing well on Xtandi for the past 16 months. I will be traveling in Europe for a couple of weeks and must take it with me. My only concern is if I become COVID positive while there, I may have to delay my return for quarantine before I can have my next prescription filled. I will ask the specialty pharmacy where it comes from if it can be filled early, but insurance may balk at that. I have not missed a dose since I began it. Is Xtandi available in Europe? How difficult will it be to get it while there, should the need arise? Any suggestions?

Xtandi is available almost anywhere. However, you need a prescription and I think this has to be issued by a local doctor. You may ask your insurance if they will pay Xtandi if purchased in Europe.

Thanks for the suggestion. Any idea about the cost of Xtandi in Europe? It's about $100 a capsule in the US (before insurance) and $20 a capsule in Canada.

A package has 112 capsules and costs 3.456,14 Euro. So this is about $34 per capsule.

Another thought..do you have someone here in US who could receive it for you and then mail to you in Europe. Or, ask your pharmacy whether you could agree to pay extra for shipping to Europe.

I had gone on vacation at the time my monthly prescription would have run out. I had no problem getting another one filled in advance.

Call your insurance company and get their consent...... take names and dates/times of your call (ask for CEO's name while you're at it).... Don't F around.....
