My friend’s son was recently diagnosed with stage 4 pCa and would like a second opinion on treatment from the University of Washington prostate cancer center in Seattle or the Mayo Clinic prostate cancer center in Rochester, Minn. If you can suggest a doctor of excellence from these centers I would be appreciative. My friend’s son is quite young, 51 with a family at home in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Thank you.

Seeking a Second opinion on treatments for a Canadian Friend
Evan Yu at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. I don't think they have any top prostate MO's at Mayo Rochester. But Charles Ryan, who is also the new CEO of the Prostate Cancer Foundation, is at U of Minnesota.
A lot of people swear by Dr. Eugene Kwon at Mayo. Probably will want you to take his Choline scan. Or if you have a PSMA he might go by that Has a lot of videos.
Thank you, I appreciate these recommendations.
I am being treated at the Cross Cancer Institute (CCI) in Edmonton. I have Stage 4 Ductal adenocarcinoma of the prostate. The CCI is a centre of excellence in terms of cancer research and treatment. I have received radiation therapy and ADT whilst being treated at the CCI. In my opinion the care that I have received there is excellent. My Oncologist is Dr. Brita Danielson and she specializes in prostate cancer. I couldn’t have hoped for a better doctor than Brita. She has been wonderful to work with.
I’m not suggesting that you don't need to look elsewhere but rather just letting you know that the care provided at the CCI is probably the best in Canada. I wish your friend’s son well. He is too young to be cursed by this disease.
I am in Toronto and also stage 4. I sought a second opinion from Dr. Kwon at the Mayo. He has been very responsive and helpful. He seeks cures for his patients and not just palliation. Good luck.
Please have your friends son 51 year (dang) reach out to Evan Yu at the Seattle cancer care alliance. The group of doctors are great. They are treating my cousin 50 years old just recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Have the guy reach out to me - diagnosed at 56 now in my 6th year. Wishing him lots of good vibes.
As a fellow Canadian with 4PCa , I would point out to your Canadian friend that we have in Toronto two world class hospitals treating PCa. One is Sunnybrook and the other is Princess Margaret. Unless your friend is very wealthy and can afford the huge costs for treatments in the US with no guarantee of positive results he can pay almost nothing to get treated in Canada ,with treatments as good as any in the US.
Greetings. Firstly I hope your friend’s family can come to understand that a good life is possible by accepting this is a chronic condition and there are many treatments and new drugs coming out to allow loved ones time to achieve what they wish to. Research is key! Changing one’s food intake to plant based diet. Reducing alcohol intake. There is a ton of helpful info by Dr M. Greger on the net. Pca diagnosis is rarely a death sentence. Unlike many other cancers. He has time to make informed choices. We have enjoyed 5 years of fitness, travel and joy since his Gleason 8/9 diagnosis. Ask what the negatives are of every medical treatment recommendation!!
Whoever he picks..... tell the son to join us here...... thank you...
Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.
