Cancer drugs reduce Iron in the blood stream. I take an iron supplement.

I am having bad cramps at night so I take extra magnesium but could this be lack of iron?

Hi I am not sure. My legs seem to be restless at night. I would not say cramps, but restless and hurt some. Hard to explain - I took it as just something that went along with the treatment. My doc found the low iron and anemia in a blood test, so may want to mention that at your next appointment. Good luck.

Yes. I take an iron supplement morning and night and a B12 injection every 3 months. Dr prescribed.

Thanks for the reply. I take an iron pill in the morning along with vitamin C and a stool softener - I guess this is my new normal. I did not have this problem till I switched from Casodex to Erleada.

Yes I had anemia, my MO said it was likely from ADT and early chemo. He suggested an iron supplement which I’ve been taking for a couple of years now. It seems to have worked, RBC and associated levels are normal now. I get my iron levels checked every 3-4 month since too much is not good. I take iron supplement at night, supposedly you get better absorption that way.

I have low red blood cell category readings, but both iron and B-12 are normal levels.
