I would appreciate you if you could share your experience in taking 80mg Xtandi, instead of 160mg dose, that can as well contain your low level of PSA with us. Thanks. If low dose of 80mg works, why go for 160mg as suggested by the doctor. Do they do it (high dose) for profits? Thanks.

Is 80mg Xtandi as effective as 160mg when it comes to PSA screening?
Of course not. When they test a new drug, they start with what is called a Phase 1 dose finding study. That determines which dose offers the best efficacy with the least side effects. Remember, you are trying to keep your cancer from growing, not your PSA - PSA and cancer are not the same thing. Many men participated in the Phase 1 trial so that you would have the benefit of knowing what dose is best. Take the dose your doctor prescribes, unless you can't.
The clinical trials showing a survival advantage for enzalutamide were done with 160 mg . I am not aware of any study comparing 80 mg vs 160 mg. The information you can get from the forum is anecdotical and it does not have any value to decide if reducing the dose to 80 mg offers the same control of the cancer than 160 mg.
After starting I was on 4 pills but after about 6 months he dropped me to 3 and it has worked so far.
I’ve been on 80mg for a couple of years now after being on 160mg for 5 years and SE’s seemed cumulative and became intolerable. It has been effective at the lower dose, I did this in coordination with my MO.
