Hello Christopher and welcome. Very similar stats to mine. Diagnosed late last year PSA 21. Surgery in October. Post op PSA only went down to .31. Gleason 9. Two lymph nodes involved, seminal vesicle invasion, positive margin and ECE. Lupron and Zytiga began in January. Salvage radiation in March and April. Present PSA <.05. Testosterone less than 1 — with all the crappy side effects.

Thx for your reply yes very similar and time frame, also seminal invasion & positive margins. Psa now .01 This you the best.

our time was same Dec-RP, Salvage-April,May. Worry about recurrence.

Did your radiation include the expanded pelvic lymph node area and 2-3 years os ADT?

Yes pelvic and currently scheduled for 6 doses Eligard, 3 mth dose.

53 at dx...G9 . RP 6/19 Started Eligard + Casodex 7/19. 39 IMRT wprt 10/19. Stopped Casodex and started Zytiga 11/19. Last 3mo Eligard injection on 7/21 Stopped Zytiga. Psa <0.1 sin 1/19.

I'm 55 now.

Post rp pathology pT3bN1M0 SVE, ECE positive margins

Clear bone and CT scans prior to surgery

1 of 12 lymph nodes positive.

I think my scenario is similar to yours.

Very similar. I’m 55. PSA 7, RALP July 2020, pathology showed Gleason 3+4=7, EPE, Seminal vesicle invasion, negative margins, 1 of 10 lymph’s with cancer cells. PSA undetectable after surgery. Followed up w radiation and Lupron as genetic testing suggested high risk of recurrence. Now 1 year of Lupron and still undetectable PSA, going to do 1 more year of Lupron and go from there. My best to you!

Hi Christopher, welcome to the group. I was Dx at 52 at the end of 2019. Treatment started with ADT in April 2020 with PSA 300.

I had an Orchiectomy in Nov 2020, and still on Zytiga 1000mg daily. Things have settled down thank God, and my PSA has been low, around 0.01 for several months now. I am hoping it will stay that way.

You can keep that going for years! 💪

I started in January, so we are just about on the same track, ChristopherH.

No surgery or radiation for me because the cancer was already inoperable, with more than 5 metastases when it was discovered.

ADT is working for me as far as tumor reduction is concerned, I had a bout with extremely high blood pressure apparently related to Zytiga. Extra prednisone seems to have fixed that for now.

I am scheduled for a Bipolar TURP on September 28 hopefully to finally get me off of the Foley catheter.

Blessings, Fellow Traveler.

Has your doctor told you that the goal of the treatment is curative? How was the lymph node diagnosed? Corroborated by MRI?

ChristopherH profile image
ChristopherH in reply to

No he has no specified exactly yet, lymph node diagnosed on RP removal- thx

in reply to ChristopherH

I think your whole pelvic has a decent chance of being curative. You should ask your radiation oncologist.

Somewhat similar with RP and inguinal lymph node showing positive and PMSA showing 7 mets in the abdomen. No radiation as the areas are too diffuse. So far on Lupron/Erleada with PSA at 0.02 and Testosterone at 0.5. No real significant issues, and I'm felling very lucky right now, but I'm aware of what can be coming around the corner. Take care

Welcome CH! You are in the heart of the battle. I started this mess in 2015 . I was #4 gl 8 with k failure pc tumors blocking urethra and bladder. I had tubes into my kids for a year and a half and a foley . That was hell . With imrt Lupron and tak -700 ( now not available) I went under the radar over six yrs so far . The first years were the worst for me . I hope that you’re over your worst part slso . It takes time to recover . Heal thy self anyway that you feel put. Live well . Other s will ask you specific age history and dx . Take care Scott

Hi Christopher - I'm in a similar situation as you. Diagnosed at 56 w/G9, SVI, LN+. PSA at diagnosis was 5.2. Had RP 2 years ago followed by 37 radiation treatments 9 months later. ADT was started 2 months prior to radiation. I've been on radiation for 15 months now. My MO recovered 24 months ADT so I have 9 months to go. So far m PSA is undetectable. I hope the best for you.

Hi Christopher - Good to hear about your PSA. Is your PSA 0.1 or 0.01? Just re-read my post and realize I goofed several times, jeesh. I think I typed it on my tablet which I should avoid doing since I always have trouble typing on tablet/phone keyboards. I meant to say that I have been on ADT (also Eligard) for 15 months now (not radiation for 15 months, that would be really odd!), and that my MO recommended 24 months of ADT. Best wishes to you.

Yes PSA is 0.1, no worry happens to me all time. He suggested I do 6 injections 3mth dose

How’s is everyone doing? Just received my 6 Eligard shot which is last to wait and see what happens. It has kept PSA undetectable. Little nervous coming off if goes up but glad to get off the Eligard.
