This past week marked the beginning of my 3rd year with the diagnosis of Stage 4 Metastatic Castrate resistant Prostate Cancer , still a lot to say and swallow after this time , according to some online research I did in the early days , I am lucky to be able to type this message out , funny I don't feel lucky a lot of days , but until chemo started this past year , I felt not bad all things considered , some days are struggles , some days I cry , I don't look at stats anymore of projected lifelines, I will make my own thanks ,......a continued thank you to my Doctors , Nurses , support staff , pharmacy staff , and all those involved in the science that has allowed someone with such aggressive progression to keep fighting , I am so grateful folks , to my Family and friends for keeping my head in the game , my reasons to keep fighting are shown to me everyday in how many people love and care about me , I don't get it , but I sure will accept it , if you are still waiting to check up on me after 3 years, Don't bother, just pray for me , it will have the same effect ......keep up the good fight in your own lives folks!!!!

I was diagnosed with metastatic PCa in 2004, It has been controlled in all that time using ADT (though I know chemo will be coming at some point). I hope you are able to find a way to live with the beast, Mollygrace, and live a life with more than anxiety and fear.

That’s the spirit. I’m in the same boat but in earlier days and it seems all a little ethereal right now as post RP and the ADT/Lupron with only slight side effects but I know what’s coming. I was also given the 20% chance of living 5 years, but we’ll see how that goes. Take care of yourself my distant friend.

2 years and counting, lots of crys and laughter, some days tougher than others, although this is life. Carry on. What treatment are you on, have done LU 177.

Keep your positive attitude you can do this. I was metastatic in April 2004. Two months later Underwent a six months chemo - hormone therapy trial. Still undetectable.

I'm 4TcN0M1 mCRPC with a Gleason score of 9. I too was told 2 out 3 guys with my condition were dead within 5 years. I'm coming up on 6 years! My PSA is low on Abiraterone acetate/prednisone and quarterly Eligard injections and I still haven't played with chemo yet! Thanking God for the time even as the medical system does stupid thing after stupid thing for me.

I'm currently out of my cancer meds...again. I'm an advanced cancer patient from the L.A. area and I've never had a PET scan once! I tried to get approved for an Axumin PET scan lately and my doctor's request was denied outright. I had my medical oncologist call my health insurance provider to protest the decision. After a *peer* to peer discussion my healthcare *provider* still denied my doctor's request! A healthcare professional once revealed to me that Healthcare providers are not in the business of providing healthcare; they're in the business of denying healthcare!

I find that if you expect them to mess up, it's less disappointing when they do. One is simply in the job of mitigating the severity of the healthcare providers' mistakes. People have told me to keep a good attitude. I tell them *if attitude has anything at all to do with surviving my incurable prostate cancer, I'll outlive you all!* ; )
