Hey all,
Do you all still get yearly physicals in spite of all the bloodwork and scans we get on a regular basis? I so blood panels every 2 months and scans every three.
Thanks

Yes...my PCP handles my yearly physical,, bp meds, vaccines and other needs like DEXA scans...most MOs don't want to be your PCP in addition to your MO.
I still see my PCP for yearly physicals. There’s more to me than PCa and feel that the PCP is needed to look after my general health. There is at least one test in the normal CMP that my MO orders, cholesterol, that my PCP wants to see. He keeps an eye on my mild hypertension and there’s also keeping track of vaccinations I might need. I got the first shingles vaccination from my PCP last month.
Plus your PCP can give you decent second opinions. If they will
Only when I need a drug refill or have a non cancer specialist issue. My GP gets copied on all my reems of test results and doctors notes. Last time I had my health history forwarded to Duke it was 500 pages and that was 2 years ago.
Since my np pc...found my tumor....i go regurly for pain meds and such and just to talk to her she saved me from going to hell early...and living this hell on earth she is a breast cancer surv. So i get no passes from her..." deal with it is her motto" ...btw you havent had a dre till a women pc does it...just saying ...wink wink👆
I'm on Medicare, and I get an annual "Wellness Check", which consists of a bunch of written questions (e.g., Do you have grab bars around your toilet?), about 5 minutes with nurse assistant (height, weight, BP), and no more than 3 minutes with physician to say hi and listen to heart. Does anyone on Medicare get a real annual physical?
I receive pretty much the same type Medicare Physical...however they still do blood work and urine sample. The timing of the test usually coincides with the annual flu shot.
as I understand it - you have to have the Annual Wellness physical so Medicare will pay. In the grand scheme of all the treatment we get for the cancer - it's a minor blip. My PCP is the leader of the team and everyone shares their notes.
I go every six months complete physical.
I do. I recognize in these times the excessive reliance on tests and imaging. But these are not substitutes for thought, logic, listening and physical diagnosis. As a physician, I mourn my colleagues' let us get another test substitute for thinking. I watched my brother die because his doctors had forgotten their anatomy lessons, failed to localize the source of his incredible pain and wanted to get another imaging study.
Wow.....confirms my overall feelings...you have to almost b lucky to get a doc....who int init for the money....my np is a good one....she actually has a better practice than the doc she works under..and my first urologist who biopsyd me based on her finding....had low psa.....he couldnt feel anything... then he wanted to jerk out prostate... without staging....needless to say he was"fired" ...to quote our last great pres......😉 jmho.....bw
