Psa rise to 7.10 from 4.55 just in 20 days generally doubling time was 3 months but this Time increased too fast what could be other reasons like other than disease progression? I mean is it possible to disease progression this fast ? Urine report is normal blood report is normal so no urine infection or bacterial infection found as per reports. New development is urine frequency and urgency have increased.

What reasons could be affecting of rapid psa rise
If he still has a prostate, urinary retention or a UTI could contribute to the rapid increase.
Hi Nirman, So although my PSA is lower than yours I had a jump from 1.7 to 3.5 in a very short time, days to weeks. It happened due to a bike race and taken again in a month it went down to 1.7. So, anything sitting, driving, sex and the DRE can drastically raise it. My urologist panicked even when I told him about the bike race and insisted on MRI, 4K blood test and then TRUS biopsy. I think Urologist need to get knowledgable about many things. They seem to get stuck in a pattern and don't like to change paths. Good luck.
I would listen to your urologist first and formost. He knows YOU and your cancer better than anyone on here. They are way more knowledgeable and actually do keep updated about "things".
Looking at it from a mathematical viewpoint, when something doubles it increases on a progressive basis. That is because doubling occurs in accordance with the formula x=2y where the doubling goes from 1 to 2 to 4 to 8 to 16 to 32 etc. and therefore it is actually a progressive or accelerating condition with a curve like a parabola. The PSA doubling time would normally decrease as well, as the actual number of prostate cancer cells subdivide at a constant rate but due to the mathematics of the situation the number of total cells increases at a parabolic rate. However, due to the suppressive nature of the body's defense system, and the fact that the actual curve of the disease rate of growth can be controlled by various means such as surgical removal of tumors, radiation therapy, hormone therapy, or immunotherapy, that does not normally happen. I have found that heat as well (over 106degrees F) can diminish the rate of growth of the prostate cancer cells, and also lycopene intake and magnets. So when you say it went to "7.10 from 4.55 just in 20 days" you have to consider that the actual "doubling time" of the PSA would be when it reaches 9.10 which would be approximately 30 days. But furthermore you need to consider that it has been progressing or doubling on a progressive basis for quite a while, and the curve is steepening as it goes, thereby reducing the doubling time.
No this time it was far more speedy growth it should be 9 from 4.5 in 3 months so it was bit rapid as well we noticed urine retention as a newly developed symptom so wanted to clear out different possibilities well it may be a disease progression too I don’t deny chances
Oh I'm sorry I was thinking the normal doubling time without any control was 45 days, which is the approximate growth rate of skin cells. I don't know the growth rate of prostate cancer cells but I do know there are influences that can cause faster doubling times. I don't know exactly but it is possible that there is some kind of exposure such as to chemicals or diet that might increase doubling time.
