Just wondering if Rucaparib or Olaparib is used by oncologists for BRCA mutated advanced prostate cancer patients?

YES. Both Rucaparib and Olaparib (PARP inhibitors) were approved by FDA recently for metastatic prostate cancer which has BRCA mutation.

Hi I am Brca2. I have Mets to my bone and lymph glands. I started on Olaparib last August. My PSA had gone from 9 to 70 within 3months. My PSA is now at 5. My scans showno tumor changes. I don’t know how long it will last but I appreciate it as long as it lasts. The only problem is the expense. It cost 14,700/month my copay is 12,000/yr. It puts a big bite on my retirement funds.

Astra Zeneca has a financial assistance program to help with your copay. It is based on income.

I have BRCA and ATM mutations and will begin Rucaparib in February. It is via a clinical trial that has you go through 4 sessions of Docetaxel and Carboplatin to assist with getting things 'ready' for the PARP inhibitor. Supposedly this is how it has been used in successful Ovarian cancer cases.
