Hormone treatment questions
The hormone injections can keep the pain at bay for a while. Then there are many other medicines you can use. What did you mean by possible bone cancer? Did spots on bones light up on a PET scan? Did the spots reduce after the shots?
Thanks for the response. Unfortunately I still feel very in the dark with my condition. I had to wait many months for the Pet scan and it was from this they said I had possible bone cancer. I suppose is showed spots on the bones. It’s been difficult talking to the NHS but I do have a bone scan in a couple of weeks. I’ve been on hormone for around 4 months so let’s hope I know a little more soon.
Everyone is different, there are some brothers on this forum that have been on Lupon injections for years.
I also have had spread to sv’s,lymph nodes and now bone spots in my spine.
I recently added Zytiga to my quarterly Lupron shot. Adding xgeva to help bones.
I just keep moving... find that it’s best for my body... limited to 10 lb lifting max...
I just stay positive
First of all, Prostate Cancer prognosis and characteristics are unique to our biology. Androgen Deprivation Therapy (ADT) therapy, meaning hormone castration is what I think you meant.
"Can this continue to stay like this?"
Yes, as many have kept their PSA undetectable while on ADT, so no cancer progression. I'm in this situation, even when diagnosed (2 years ago) PSA 1000+, with extensive bone metastasis, in addition - a large tumor was blocking my bladder wall, obstructing urine flow, extremely painful.
In just 3 days after initial ADT injection, urination normal, follow up scans of the metastasis areas, showed massive necrosis and my current PSA <0.02.
So, obviously my Advanced Prostate Cancer (PCa) was/is hormone sensitive. But, PCa can mutate to fuel itself with minimal hormones and progress.
My point, need to understand your type of PCa and manage it. There's so much treatment options, you're obviously inquisitive for taping into HealthUnlocked...
