Yes....Ibuprofen at middle of the night pee break if back pain present.
I do not think Xtandi causes the back pain. Did you have bone mets before starting with Xtandi? Then beginning resistance against Xtandi could allow the bone mets to grow and cause pain.
Or you just gained weight due to ADT and this is the reason for the back pain.
I would agree with you but if you look at the clinical trials for Xtandi about 30% of the people in those trials experienced back pain. I’ve had a bone scan,a ct abdomen/pelvis scan and and adult skeletal Urey
And skeleton survey . Sorry for this messy reply . I pressed the wrong spot on my I pad
You can take Erleada or Darolutamide instead of Xtandi. These are very similar drugs compared with Xtandi/Enzalutamide but have a different side effect profile. Darolutamide seems to cause very few side effects but is approved for castration-resistant, non-metastatic situations only.
I started on Xtandi about 3 weeks ago. In the last week or so, the neuropathy in my feet from chemo is worse at night...in fact, it flares up my leg(s). To counter it, I take three Advil and sometimes add Gabapentin to it. That said, I was taking Xtandi after dinner...now I'm experimenting with times to see if the flares can be limited to the daytime (for me that's better).
See my post neuropathy. It lists drugs and supplements I take.
I’ve been taking Xtandi before bed but the back pain keeps me awake. I had no problem with half dose but switching to full dose created a problem. That was my reason for asking if anyone was using ibuprofen to control the back pain side effects. If you reed my reply to NALAKRATS that describes my current status/ condition. Thanks for your reply.
Thanks for your reply . I was on a half dose of Xtandi for 6 months. That was after being on Eligard for 6 mo. During that time my PSA went from 2.27 at the start, then to 2.03 at three months then to 2.99 after another 3 months . My urologist then suggested a 6 mo holiday which saw the psa rise to 31. It was at that time that we started Xtandi at a half dose(3/day) and saw the Psa drop to 2.9. Another three months at a half dose saw the psa rise to 5.3 At that time we went to a full dose of 6 capsules. Within three days the back pain became significant . Scans at that time indicated nothing out of the ordinary other than signs of old age in the lower back . I started and restarted Xtandi three times after a break of about a week . In all cases back pain was a problem especially at night Taking ibuprofen stopped the pain and I managed to have relief the next day till it was time for bed . I realize the whole issue here is to stop the psa rise. My next plan that I will propose to my urologist is going back to three capsules and possibly six with my management of back pain as needed . I cannot find any info. on why Xtandi causes back pain. In clinical trials 30% of the participants experienced back pain. I hope I didn’t bore you with all this info . I have followed your responses to people’s questions and have a great respect for your perspective THANKS AGAIN
Thanks for your reply. I will definitely see a medical oncologist. As far as scans I recently had three. A CT OF THE ABDOMEN / PELVIS., A BONE SCAN and an ADULT SKELETAL SURVEY. In summary of all three no osteolytic or osteoblastic lesion, moderate degenerative changes present in the spine.. I consider these scans to be stating points with the oncologist. I’ve been in this battle going for the past 14 years. I’ve been blessed considering it was a Gleason 8 with lymph node involvement. What is a T-99? Thanks again.
Hi...my husband is on Lupron, Xtandi & Xgeva & has back pain also. I thought it was from mets to ribs but doc says no. He found Aleve to help & we also bought a gel memory foam topper for our mattress. He says that definitely helped! Hope you find some relief soon.
With a userID "Esp1" we should be asking you questions... So here goes:
