Coverage is different state to state. Medicare.gov has a calculator where you enter your state and the drugs you take. It calculates the best plans for you.

thx. Not much competition as far as I can see. Virtually all the available plans in NY provide the same level of coverage.

What you have to do is compare premium costs, deductable and look at the formulary to see what drugs are covered.

Try to find a local agent who can walk you through the Medicare.gov site . Based on state and plan formulary. there is a big difference in costs. I am in NJ if I can help you I would be glad to .

I ran the top 4 drugs Xtandi, Zytiga, etc and I didnt see much difference between Aetna, Cigna, Silverscript, United. At.least m in the NY capital region. The calculator was lower than if I ran the numbers through the formulary.

And when using Medicare.gov, type in abiraterone , the genetic form of Zytiga. ( and then try the tool inputting Zytiga to compare). Generic made a huge difference in cost for my husband. He switched plans for next year because of the difference between the plans. Look at overall cost, which includes premium plus drug cost. He chose a plan with higher premium and deductible but it will be much less on overall cost.

You could also contact a broker who sells plans but they will only review the plans they sell. Or use the services of SHIP volunteers in your state.

In summary Medicare Drug plans are for the drugs you take at home. Isn’t Provence given in a doctor’s office? If so, that would be covered under your Medicare Part B.

If you choose a Medicare Advantage plan, it is one stop shopping for all this but, as you can see from other discussions on this site, there are often some serious restrictions. Hope this helps.

Just plug them into your formulary to find out. Xtandi has a patient assistance program that is pretty easy to qualify for to. Call them, number is on the website.
