From remission to recurrence

I wish to have opinion of our friends on Senolytic therapy for Senescent cancer cells.

What off label drugs to delay recurrence or completely eliminate it.

Very little medical follow up after remission...all waiting for recurrence.

Any guidelines on diet, except use, supplements and mental set up.

what are the markers indicating activity of sleeping cancer cells

and stem cancer cells....

Exercise, and eat a balanced diet (mediterranean diet for example). This is an article describing some biomarkers for senescent cells:

Tango makes a great point. If we do not allow our cells to age prematurely.. they will less likely to convert into cancerous cells. That's a general principle.

I would love to find out if some one knows what biomarkers indicate the cancer cells are "sleeping" ...I have not been able to find one.

As for off label drugs...some have good evidence of benefit such as Metformin, Atorvastatin, Losartan, Famotidine, Melatonin, loratidine. ,Indomethacin and Doxycycline ( To be used carefully and under supervision)They block one or more pathway of cancer growth.

Other beneficial dietary supplements which either slow cancer growth or block them from metastases are:

(1) Grape Seed Powder (resvestarol) Blocks Epithelial- mesotelium transition, and blocks angiogenesis thus preventing cancer cell metastasis.

(2) Pomegranade seed and peel powder : contains ellagitannins , which gets converted to ellagic acid which causes growth inhibition and cancer cell death.

(3) Turmeric: Contains Curcumin which reduces angiogenesis by its anti VEGF effect. Also inhibits NF-kB, mTOR and AKT pathways. Thus, stopping growth of LNCap as well as DU145 prostate cancer cells.

(4) Green Tea and Black tea: Many catechins and EGCG : works by stabilizing tumor suppressor gene p53, reducing MDM2 protein and thus, causes death of LNCaP cancer cells.

(5) Cruciferous Veggies ( Cauliflower, Radishes, Brocolli, Cabbage) contain many types of chemicals esp. Sulforaphanes which are known to kill cancer cells.

(6) Allicin veggies ( Onions, Garlic) Has organosulfur compounds and flavanols...helps slowing growth of cancer cells. Red Onions have good amount of Quercetin.

(7) Ginger: Has Gingerols etc. which causes cancer cell death and known to reduce PSA.

(8) Other honorable mentions are Red Tomatoes (Lycopene), Black seeds (Thymoquinone),

Guava leaves and pulp, Soursop leaves extract, Neem leaves (Nimbolide) Saffron (crocin) Black pepper (Piperdine) Cayenne pepper (capsaicin) and many many others.

Can not mention details of each one as the post will become many pages long.

Hey LearnAll!

The study funded by the non profit that Dr. Greger made a YouTube video about showed that large amounts of a single supplement had little effect while smaller amounts of many were very effective in killing prostate cancer cells. It was interesting that the men took a capsule with the ingredients and their blood was drawn. The nutrition in their blood was what killed cancer cells. The funding--non profit right!--ran out at four ingredients--the four ingredients that are in POMI-T! Imagine that!

Another post today about NAC sort of showed the danger in over supplementing. In the link GeorgeGlass provided there is a comment by a "DrLogic" that is right on.

"The rule of thumb when consuming any medicine is to use the minimum safe and effective dose, not gulp as much as possible."

That was "DrLogic"s comment!

Factors to be considered when taking supplements--

Body size

Age

Present health status

Compatible with other supplements and drugs--seek the advice of trusted doctors while being aware that some may be biased--either for or against too much or just plain ignorant or rigid in heir beliefs and unable to step back for a fresh look as knowledge becomes available.

Digestive aids such as piperine and bromelain

Quality of the supplement, it's availability.

Multiple dietary substances block digfferent cancer growth pathways...therefore a judicious combination will be more effective than a large amount of one.

My most preffered method is by food items such as Dry Red Grapes (Munakka) for Resvastarol. If practically not possible ,then capsules filled with natural powders with minimum processing to retain their natural state as much as possible. Minimum added chemicals or fillers. Avoid gelatin capsules.

There's a UK advocate Jane McLelland who has a Facebook group discussing off label drugs. She is considered an expert patient. You may wish to check it out.

Jane did a good job in her book on starving cancer.....

I followed her well.....but she is now out of touch ....more involved in show business.....

Sure she talks of metabolic paths...but there is more basic know how to it....

Now she is started online course.........It seems it all comes to money.....

In this thread Our interest is on Therapy induced senescent cancer cells and as well on stem cancer cells. We can take our journey into our hands and stop recurrence. There is so much know how in published work and the our ancestral grand mother know how on diet and health and herbs....

ITo do we need standard follow up, proper use lab tested off label drugs, diet choice, physical exercises and mind body connection. Our docs are too busy consulting patients 15 min each day in day out since they left school...Sure we need them but I find them victim of protocols....

In our journey every bit of relevant knowledge is welcome. That is where we as patients come....During AIDS problem, the patients took over the initiative and confronted the cycle of 10 years FDA clinical studies. They could not wait for 10 years as they were dying.....

In our case if we find certain directions in complement to standard protocol useful and promoting, we together can recommend those paths....as many of us are testing....I wont call it snake oil.... We need TA , Nalakrats and all others to include J-O-H-N for mind body

Enjoy this journey together as it becomes another norm of living.....

There is tons of research , observation studies, epidemiological studies which are available of positive effects of resveratrol, Sulforaphanes, curcumin, EGCG, Piperine, capsaicin, anthocyanins, triterpenoids and tannins, betulinic acid, gallic acid, ursolic acid, quercetin ,lycopene, Vit D, Zinc with Zinc ionophores and list goes on and on.

It has been established that inflammation plays a major role in initiation and propagation of prostate cancer. Therefore ,keeping inflammation as low as possible is crucial. C-Reactive protein needs to remain below 1.0.

I totally understand and support Karmaji's point that we need to fortify our bodies and do everything possible to delay or prevent cancer growth while SOC doctors are waiting for recurrence. Old saying " A stich in time saves nine" is still as valid as it was in ancient times.

I do understand the need for many to earn money. I am lucky in the Social Security supports me and I live with my husband. I founded all-volunteer nonprofit Annie Appleseed Project. One of our important focus areas is reducing treatment toxicities. As you note, the medical profession is not looking at that, sadly. Here is a link to our evidence-based Handout. annieappleseedproject.org/w...
