Now that abiraterone is available as a generic, if you can afford the generic, you'll be assured that you are getting the proper dose if you take 1000 mg while fasting. Absorption with fat is highly variable between individuals.

Thanks TA! The referenced article recommends absorption with a low fat meal, rather than a high-fat meal. But a larger trial is needed, I concede. However, this subject, I think falls into our American perception that access to affordable drugs and healthcare are a privilege, rather than a right. Why the US still refuses to cap the cost of pharmaceuticals, as many other developed societies do, is hard to accept - after so much R&D is funded with taxpayer dollars. Why do we overlook the lavish lobbying and corruption? It seems the LOWEST generic US price for Abiraterone is circa $600 per month. In a more equitable scenario I could attribute those thousands-of dollars saved per year (plus some of the many other costs) to my young son's future, rather than directing the money to the rapacious.

In our system, profiteers have more power than our middle class families whose priority is to raise good children and educate them.. A country can not be Great unless its priority is its people and not greedy lobbyists.

When I was on Zytiga, I read this article and started taking 250 mg with full fat breakfast and I had no problem. I do not need Zytiga at this time.

Next week, when I run out of Janssen Zytiga, I am switching to A generic from India( Xbira made by Cipla). Cost with Fedex And wire transfer charges is $600.00 for three months. Cipla Xbira Is what Canadian online pharmacies sell for $900 A month.

Hello! Chiming in here. My husband dx at 48yo 3 yers ago with stage 4 Mets to skeleton and lymph nodes. He’s currently being seen at University of Chicago. And they did put him at 250mg with 5mg prednisone low fat breakfast. So far so good and it’s been helping keep Psa down for almost 2 years
