You might be better served posting in the Prostate Cancer Network. This is Advanced Prostate Cancer for stage IV metastatic PCa. Unlike yours it’s incurable. You are fortunate you are not one of us.

But to answer your question, 18 months of ADT is a good idea:

Thanks TA. I have been monitoring this site for 4 weeks and decided to post. My doc called my prostate cancer advanced. That is why i posted here. In reading many other posts I understand how I may be more fortunate than many.

Your doctor is using the wrong terminology. "Advanced" means that cancer has been found outside of the prostate. Your risk category is "high risk." It makes a difference because you still have curative options available to you.

I don't like the idea of giving a stopping point for ADT drugs . If a drug is still effective why stop . Your only giving new cell lines a chance for a work-around to the drug.

Milk any drug for all its worth.

I’m milking the Tak-700 for all it’s worth! Keep rolling Magnus !😷🌵

I was suppose to go on TAK-700 but my PSA kept bouncing around. You have been on that for a long time. Rock on.

Time flys when you’re having fun. Initially with lupron I had extreme side effects. Most guys dropped due to those.. . Not me! I’m a mule!😷

My concern is around quality of life. I was seeking out some actual experience of side effects, etc. What can i expect if I quit lupron after 18 months? I realize that there is no sure answer to it but may have a few people in the same boat as me. Thanks

Then if you have not had it yet. Start with Casodex. It is one of the older ADT drugs with less side effects.

I am 73 years old. Was diagnosed on June 3, 2020 with Gleason 8. I live in the state of Delaware and my RO is at the Helen Grahm Cancer Center in Newark, Delaware. My urologist is through the VA. Right now the only thing my urologist is doing is the Lupron shots (first one on 8/13). Waiting on having gold seed markers and Hydrogel placement. Schedule for 23 radiation treatments around middle of December.

My father died of prostate cancer at the age of 77. Would like to make it past that age with QOL.

Thank you for your quick and detailed response. It may be a good idea to copy and paste your response in you home page. This will enable you to point members to it if needbe. You will be around to celebrate your 90th birthday hopefully with a good QOL. Stay with us and keep posting for good information and camaraderie.

p.s. Thanks for being in the military.... I guess during the Vietname era.....
