Unproven non-treatments

I'd like to dedicate this song to all of the unproven non-treatments that find their way onto this forum. As far as I'm concerned it's a lot of Cosmik Debris. And....Don't waste your time on me.

Good choice Gregg

Thanks. Unfortunately, Frank Zappa died from prostate cancer. Not sure where he got his treatment, but I can tell you one thing: He didn't get it from the Mystery Man.

My favorite lines:

I've got troubles of my own I said and

You can't help me out

So take your medications and your preparations

And ram 'em up your snout

Clearly the appropriate choice for this thread but my favorite is still Montana.

Love it!!! Thanks Gregg!!!

Sadly he died very young, I seen him several times in the early 70's. "Weasels ripped my flesh."

in reply to

He died at 52. Much too young.

It seems there wasn't much to combat PCa up until the nineties when better treatments were being developed.

Frank Zappa and I seem to have a lot in common, both having 4 children and have had unresolved urinary issues for many years before being diagnosed with PCa. The major differences being that I have no musical talent and don't consider tobacco to be a vegetable. I have outlived him by two years so far, although I don't know if he was ever prescribed Lupron depot (released in 1989).

Joe’s Garage is my all time favorite.

"Black Napkins" always does it for me.

Thanks. You just hit the nail on the head. Zappa was an accomplished musician and a wry social commentator. Listen to

" I am the slime" and simply replace TV by social media for a try....

Have a good one!

Very bluesy - enjoyed it, though will admit to taking a little Cosmis Debris

Frank Zappa has guided many of my thoughts. Thankful that I was introduced to him at a young age. Great post. This world needs a lot more fun.

Folks, this Zappa thread has done me a world of good. Thank you!

"The deadly yellow snow had deprived the fur trapper of his sight"....lucky to see this legend at Stanford Maples Pavilion in 1979.

I am really amazed at how creative and funny his lyrics and music are. Also love the story telling aspect. How did he come up with this stuff? Just listened to Camarillo Brillo.

Some of the lyrics:

She had a snake for a pet

And an amulet

And she was breeding a dwarf

But she wasn't done yet

She had gray-green skin

A doll with a pin

I told her she was awright

But I couldn't come in

and

Well, I was born

To have adventure

So I just followed up the steps

Right past her fuming incense stencher

To where she hung her castanets

She stripped away

Her rancid poncho

An' laid out naked by the door

We did it till we were un-concho

An' it was useless any more

in reply to

"Is that a real poncho . . . I mean

Is that a Mexican poncho or is that a Sears poncho?"

From the moment I first heard that, I wanted a *real* poncho. Instead, I bought a *real* Mexican serape. Sometimes, good enough is good enough.

in reply to

Yes, I love the poncho line. The poncho line (slightly different) also appears in Cosmik Debris. I think it's a clever commenatry on phony gurus.

I saw a comment somewhere that whenever he or his wife sees someone with a poncho they always say: "Is that a real poncho is that a Sears poncho?"

I haven't listened to him for years but knowing he is a brother makes me want to start again. I would download some lyrics and chords for my guitar but I am way out of his league.

Suzy? Suzy Creamcheese?

And though this one came much later (1982), Moon Unit and her Valley Girl was the first time I'd ever heard valleyspeak spoken at length, long enough to realize how funny it sounded (at the time I was trying to speak pidgin in Hawai`i). Gag me with a spoon. Some people are still ending their sentences with a question mark when they're not asking a question, as if they're not quite sure where they are or what they've said or if what they've said makes any sense - and blissfully unaware that they're driving anybody who's listening to them crazy.

I wonder, ..... ¿ Do Spanish-speaking "chicas del valle" have similar quirks of speech, even though the written language uses a definitive upside down question mark at the beginning of all questions and interrogative clauses to indicate that a question is coming?
