Good evening everyone. Does anyone know of anyone who is happy to administer low dose chemotherapy preferably in the North West of England? My fathers oncologist has informed him that the NHS don't offer it as standard thus refusing him it. Many thanks in advance

The doctor will reduce the dose if the patient reports severe side effects and says he wants to cancel the therapy. I would ask the doctor if it is really necessary to start with the highest dose and if he could rather start with the dose he uses for patients suffering severe side effects.

Hi, many thanks for your response! His oncologist isn't the most 'on board' let's say and flat out refused this when he asked about this.

My experience is that a clinic where several oncologists work together will be more likely to use a low-dose schedule if the patients ask for it. They do not want to loose patients because these may cancel the treatment due to the side effects.
