Hello everyone. My father had photon radiation to his pelvic & lumbar area a short while ago, and it seems he's having some pain there again. He is also taking Zytiga (6.5 weeks now), which I think is not working.
Would it be prudent for him to have proton beam radiation since it's ill advised to have photon radiation to the same area more than once?

It doesn't matter if it's protons or photons, it's ionizing radiation either way. However, he may be able to get another zap of SBRT to those bone metastases, depending on the dose the first time. Sometimes once is not enough.
Has he discussed Xofigo with his oncologist? He can't take it with Zytiga, but if Zytiga is not working, he can use it after Zytiga.
Many thanks for your response Tall_Allen, it's always immensely appreciated.
We have not discussed Xofigo in great detail, but it has been mentioned. He has only been taking Zytiga for roughly 6 weeks now, and it seems some of the pain has gotten better while on Zytiga and some are recurring.
