Persistent dry cough after Chemo and radiation

My husband is running out of treatment options. His biggest problem in terms of quality of life is a persistent dry cough particularly after eating. He is trying an acid reducer Pepcid. He had a very bad reaction to Prilosec when he tried that. We think it might be acid reflux. Has anyone had this super distressing side effect and found some relief.

Has he tried papaya enzymes? I’m might help? A holistic dietitian might figure out a good diet for him .

Yes acid reflux is probably a issue, I have to take a antacid at noon and evening. No real side effects. Good luck with the monster

I have multiple degrees, but not in medicine. My 42 year old brother has a stage 4 glioblastoma. In December 2019 it was 20% of his brain. In 5 months the tumor has shrunk by half. We used an off the books treatment because they sent him home to call hospice and die. You can go to you tube and watch a 58 min video on Joe Tippens. The treatment has been successful with prostate cancer too. My sence of it is, for some it's a miracle and for some it doesn't work. But I've personally witnessed a miracle and the only side effect is 5% get light diarrhea. The medicine, fenbendazole, was used in humans years ago, but now is used on animals as they've made a slightly different version for people. I'd TOTALLT use the dog med. It's an antiparisitic. I've read every piece of peer reviewed literature I could find for months - like from John's hopkins and AJMA. There is real science, and no downside. It does 3 things to fight cancer. 1) promotes p53 generation. That's the gene all healthy people have in abundance that naturally kills cancer in the body. 2) it inhibits the cancer cells ability to process sugar. 3) it crushes microtubules. Those are the structures that bisect the circle of the cell and contaminate nearby cells with corrupted cancerous genetic information. I don't think big pharma is intrested in a 50cent a dose cancer cure. I'm not selling anything, and God as my witness I'm not lying. Watch the video on you tube. This cant hurt and can only help. If you have questions I'll answer what I can. Ohh, and your husband's cough. You know, it's not a great answer because they're addictive, but vicodin will suppress cough. And it works quite well. Ever had a horrible flu or cold and the dr gives you the cough syrup - you know the good stuff? They don't like to, because of addiction danger, but it really works. And if he was cautious not to take 15/20/30mg a day, and only took a 5mg maybe twice a day - that may solve the issue. The cough I'd talk to dr about. Sometimes the simplest solutions tend to be the correct ones. In point of fact, most of the time. My name is Rich and if you need help I'm happy to do what I can.

Why not have him see a GI (gastrointestinal) doctor to figure out what his heartburn is about? He might need an endoscopy to see if he has a hiatal hernia. There are newer prescription meds for acid reflux that he might be able to tolerate. I've been on omeprazole (prilosec) for many years without problems. Does he need to lose weight? That could be a contributing factor.
