Hello everybody! Today we got the result from my husbands tomography of the abdomen and everything was ok! He has got a slowly rising psa, but as Gleason 9 and initial psa of 32 I am wondering about the sceleton xray that we still do not know the results from. We have chosen not to know actual psas... What would next step be, ADT? He has no treatment and feels fine! Casodex monotherapy?
Warm greetings from our quarantine in a chilly Sweden

He will feel fine, until he doesn't. How one feels is not a good way to measure progression and whether death is imminent.
In a previous post, you wrote that he has pelvic lymph node metastases. Possibly, he may still be curable but only with 2-3 years of ADT and radiation.
Yes, we were told that 2 pelvic lymphnodes probably was cancerous and today we got the message that CT of the abdomen was clear. But psa is rising so where is THE cancer? We still have not got THE result from THE sceleton Scan. Best wishes
CT only tells you size. Enlarged lymph nodes (over 1.2 cm) are often cancerous, but small lymph nodes can harbor cancer too. You would need a PET (PSMA or Axumin) scan to tell you if lymph nodes are cancerous.
I gently suggest that, with Gleason 9 disease, action is needed! You need to decide upon the primary treatment (surgery, radiation) and then almost certainly ADT is in his future. Salvage radiation is likely, too. If you haven't downloaded the free NCCN Guidelines book please do so and carry it to every appointment. Please "get on the train" and please, please support your spouse through this as his decisions will certainly affect you!
Hello TG! My husband had RP in 2011 and RT in 2013. Now slowly rising Psa, although we decided not to know THE Numbers out of fear..CT of abdomen was clear, now awaiting Bone Scan, but we are realising he needs treatment. Thanks for your concern and all THE best to you.
Hello, hej! We have now gotten the results also from the skeleton scan and it looks good! The doctor said there were 2 ribs that most probably lit up due to old injuries and he did not look upon it as metastasis. It seemed that treatment could be delayed, but I asked for Casodex and then he said maybe this fall. I have read about men being on this as a monotherapy for several years so kind of comforting to start this! My husband has a heart issue too, with 2 stents and high blood pressure so I really hope that Casodex won´t aggravate this! He is being treated by Jonas Hugosson in Gothenburg, a well reputed professor here in Sweden, so we feel pretty safe.
How is your father doing, did he have surgery?
All the best to you and everybody else on this supportive forum!
