I hope there will soon be immunotherapies targeted to DLL3:

I completed the 4th of 6 scheduled cycles of etoposide, cisplatin and atezolizumab yesterday. My cycles include 3 days of infusions lasting 5, 1 and 1 hours respectively, and cycles are scheduled ~ 3 weeks apart. Yours may differ without the atezolizumab.

I’ve tolerated this well w some fatigue and mild nausea during and for a day or two after. The nausea meds they provided are working well.

Lost my hair as well. Didn’t hurt a bit😉

Scan taken after 2 cycles indicated reduction in disease.

Forward we go...

Good luck with the treatment

I was treated for small cell(neuroendocrine) PC 2 years ago with Etoposide and Carboplatin for six cycles, 3 weeks apart. It stopped the cancer from further growth and is currently now holding steady on scans, not cured. I had massive fluid accumulations in my left chest which have not recurred.

I tolerated the treatment well but it is a major cause of fatigue. I took daily naps which were unheard of in my daily life. I lost most of my hair but it started re-growing before the end of the treatments.

I had no nausea or vomiting but they preload you with a steroid (dexamethasone) and an anti nausea medication on the first day. On the 4th or 5th day after each cycle I would experience a "let down" from coming off the steroids. It is a well known effect but not serious. My treatment had to be postponed a couple of times because my White Blood Cell count fell too low. They had to let my bone marrow recover.

I ate less and lost about 10# which I could well afford to do. Never lost my appetite but it was reduced.

My ability to exercise was reduced to short walks and it has been hard to recover that. On the other hand, I have never been 78 years old before so it is hard to know how much of that is just age-related.

I feel like these 2 years have been a gift, not available to me just a few years ago.

My profile on this page documents my course. Stay positive and bring along a favorite snack during the infusions for him to have.

I'm on cycle 4 of 6 of carboplatin, etoposide, and atezolizumab. After cycle 2 a CT scan showed significant improvement. Painful urination went away in the first week. Today I have significant hip pain and a headache, and basically being lazy on the couch. On my better days I'll go for a 4 mile walk. 6 months ago it would have been a 10 mile run.

I'm also on lupron, abiraterone, and xgeva. Why would I have any side effects from a combination of 6 cancer drugs? It's sort of a miracle I spend any time out of bed. :-)
