Don’t know where you are getting treated, but Munich is a great, safe and easy city. It has a very manageable airport with light rail (S-bahn) 30 minutes from downtown. Public transport is a breeze. Everyone speaks English. It’s a bit expensive by German standards, but much cheaper than London. I know you’re not going for a vacation, but Munich is an incredible base for day trips out of town - Salzburg, Garmisch, Innsbruck, Regensburg, Hohenschwangau, etc.

best wishes for your treatment. Always believe.

My husband is being treated at TUM hospital....can't remember the German version, by Dr. Eiber. so it seems we are in the northern end of the city. looks like a beautiful park may be across from the hospital along the river. hoping for good weather to be able to be outside rather than inside.

It is difficult to get into a bad hotel in Munich. Since your relatives cannot see you for two days they should plan a touristic program and not just kill the time.

thank you for replies. we are staying at what I think is one of the more expensive places as our son is on the trip with us. while husband is in hospital we will take in a few sites, hoping for not too many crowds, due to "THE VIRUS". while out and about I intend to scout out hotels for next trip over, to maybe save a bit of cash. any suggestions of things to see? I haven't even had time to look up sites yet. thinking I would like to see some nice old cathedrals, hoping weather holds in the 60s, that would be lovely

We have stayed at the Munchen Palace Hotel which is only about 100 yards from the building you'll be in, which is a good thing because you'll need to shuttle food to your husband while he's in quarantine. The hospital food there is abysmal. The hotel, on the other hand, is really lovely. The people are nice, and it has a cozy bar where my wife felt comfortable dining when I was in treatment. There are probably lots of cheaper hotels in Munich, but this one has been great for its atmosphere and convenience to TUM.

This is where we are booked. Thanks for the information. Now I'm just hoping we can get there, well get back to states with this latest travel ban in place!

Great to meet you this week! Did you make it home without issues? We had no problems other than several security people running up to Dave as we walked into airport because their sensors were going off.

Yes, I missed seeing you the night before departure! Glad you made it back! In Chicago I felt like the obelisk in the movie 2001. The CBP agents were taking turns getting close to me to see how high their sensors would go.

Now the question is how/if we will be able to get back. This (Coronavirus) won’t be over in six weeks.

I'm worried about getting back too. Let's keep in touch. If one of us to d's a way over we can share info. Stay safe and sanitized!
