Update after on Lu177 PSMA treatment in Germany

After returning from Homburg, we have been monitoring PSA each month and are ecstatic with a hopeful and positive trend as PSA has come down from 7 to 3.8

We contacted Dr. Baum in Weisbaden for further advice (The hospital in Homburg, Saarland is no longer taking patients). He is happy and would like to conduct another Psma PET scan before further treatment. I know that UCLA does Psma PET scans, I would appreciate advice on hospitals that will do a scan closer to Canada for paying patients.

Thank you all very much for your support and input.

We also tried these people and you need initial consult with their doctor before they will schedule, however they did say they try to schedule within a day for travel purposes. We have appointment scheduled with them in case anything at UCLA falls through

Update as we spoke with them again today. They do not have a psma machine there and were referring patients to other facilities through a psma pet scan clinical trail, but that trial ran out a month ago.

Hi Torontoman, You might try Mayo in Rochester, MN. I just had a PET/choline scan and believe they also do a scan with PSMA.

We are also seeking psma scan to get to Germany! It is a nightmare! We have contacted several places and almost all want an initial consult prior to scheduling scan, which won t be for a few weeks so means two trips and some of these are significant travel. For us it took Dr Eiber in Germany to email UCLA and finally it looks like we have an appointment . What's super ironic is the hospital my husband is a patient in has the machine and scans many patients per day but he doesn't fit into the parameters of the trial so we have to fly across the country for the same test!

Hello Torontoman, the Jewish Hospital in Montreal does PSMA PET scans for about $3000. I believe you have to be referred by a physician. I will try to find contact info. BTW, I live near Toronto. Cheers, Phil

Question for the group- I had heard PSMA pet scan for PCa was close to being approved as SOC in the US. I had heard from a Rad Onc, approval was just months out and that was a couple months ago. Does anyone know anything about approval as SOC in the US for PSMA pet scan? It’s time to advance our SOC. It’s 2020!

For what it's worth, I have had two successful treatments with Dr. Baum when he was at Bad Berka and was very pleased with him. Very detailed and thorough. Getting to his new location will be a breeze, Bad Berka was a flog.

Good Luck!
