Your husbands other condition says life expectancy 7-10 years. The PC will take him a lot faster with no treatment. Why did they say they couldn’t continue treating him?

in reply toBlair77

He is into his 11th year of psp and is pretty much wheelchair bound, eating abilities are diminishing as well.

Not a good situation. He did really well on ht until the last few months but then it wiped him out pretty bad.

I’m so sorry, that does sound like a very tough situation. How do they plan on controlling his PC pain without treatment?

in reply toBlair77

Talk of radiation at this point for pain, still trying to wrap my head around this at this point.

With no treatment? Probably 2-5 years, so it may make more sense to at least maintain hormone therapy, since the supranuclear palsy has a longer expected survival.

He cannot have treatment because his body-brain wouldn't cope with ADT or Chemo drugs?

I took surgical option subcapsular orchiectomy and no need for ADT drugs, might this be an option for him?

Some men on this site are using estrogen patches to successfully control their prostate cancer, perhaps that would be an option he could tolerate. They generally report fewer side effects and better quality of life. Here is some information on this approach: journalofclinicalpathways.c....

Some doctors will be concerned about blood clots when giving men estrogen, but it doesn't appear to be a concern when used transdermally instead of orally.

So much suffering for one man . He must love you much . I pray for him to not suffer and find peace. His other disease sounds horrible .. Please keep yourself up also . 🙏
