I thought this was very interesting - hopefully there are some actual clinical trials to follow quickly.

Thanks very much for posting this mintlatte. Very interesting. I find it particularly ‘hopeful’ because treatment could involve drugs that are already approved being ‘repurposed’. That’s always good for saving time to Stage 2/3 clinical trials and possible clinical use. Cheers.

Hello.... You've been a member for quite awhile and this is your first post. Can you tell us more about yourself? Age, location, scores - psa and gleason, treatments, treatment center(s), doctor's name(s). All info is voluntary but it helps us help you and helps us too. Thank you...

:-) Not my first post, but I post little and read often.

My husband was 46 when diagnosed in late 2017 with confirmation in January 2018. His PSA was almost 7000 (not a typo) and we only caught it due to swelling in his extremities that was due to widespread lymphatic involvement. There is no Gleason score - because they biopsied his lymph nodes rather than his prostate. We are on Kaiser - so our treatment is hardly revolutionary. He did 12 rounds of doxetaxel and is on Lupron. Just this year we added Zometa - although there is no evidence of bone mets it appears he had quite low bone density. Our toughest has been depression and anxiety, although chemo was well tolerated - Lupron has not been. Since ending chemo his PSA has been at a very slow and steady rise, when Chemo was completed his PSA was at .2 it is now at 1.5, so we are in a holding pattern - PSA not moving enough to move to other options, but moving enough to contribute to anxiety. Mostly I lurk because I know I will need some of this info when we next need to go to bat against this disease - but right now we are in a holding pattern :-)
