Fellow HU members, I came across this TEDTalk that completely blew me away! It talks about the use of red light, to which the human body is transparent, to provide fine detailed internal images that are comparable or better than MRIs, and far less expensive. Holographic principles are used to reconstruct an image from scattered light. There are some potential negative applications, but the benefits appear to outweigh the risks. Cheers, Phil
Note to WOSPeddie: red light is used on marine craft because it does not cause night blindness. I have sailed at night and momentary exposure to bright white light can blind your eyes to navigation instruments and surroundings when it is turned off.
