I did Phase II of this trial. I had 6 months of Abiraterone and Apalutimide prior to surgery on 1/17/19. The post surgery pathology showed a treatment effect with some residual tumors up to .5 cm, clear lymph nodes, and seminal vesicle invasion.
I was randomized to observation and not to the additional 12 months of ADT. Going on 10 months, my PSA is undetectable. I’m 49 years old so my testosterone returned fairly quickly. I’m exercising, eating a vegan diet with some fish, taking a few supplements, and keeping my fingers crossed. I’m taking it one month at a time.
Thank you for posting this. I read the entire transcript. These medical researchers are using language rarely heard today among those of us with Gleason 8, 9, or 10 disease: "Our goal is cure and with intense limited therapy, so intense systemic therapy, the best surgery and we leave it up to the treating physicians whether adjuvant radiation is something they want to recommend for the patient. "
I am very excited to read of this work. Again, thanks for posting.
