Was working with Dr. to qualify for Provenge, was told to praise the last month or so had doubled from $93,000-$180,000. In my situation believe my insurance will cover if approved. Has anyone else heard the same cost increase.

I have not heard of a price increase in the Provenge. However, Have your doctor contact the Patient Access Network. They can help Provenge costs.

Mine in June was 150K.

It is medicare open enrollment. If you are in a PPO, any chance of adding a medicare supplemental plan to cover the 20% copay?

I agree that PAN is one of the best foundations look for help. In 2012, I got grant money from PAN to help pay my Provenge. Then even provided limo transportation to and from my treatments.

Has there been any recent trials that have shown Provenge to be effective? Not studies, but trials? When I mentioned Provenge to my MO, Dr. Sartor, he said it only adds 4.1 months to OS. He scoffed at the recent study that is being touted as BS since there was no control group. The only trials that I can find support his claim.

Haven't heard of any increase, but I rejected Provenge about a year ago when they hit me with my share ($24,000 per round) and I checked research which showed, at best, that it added an average of 4 months to life expectancy. And what would that 4 months be like. Having been through chemo already the QOL is not something that I want again.

Provenge may add only a few months when given late, as the last thing to try.

However, if given early it may be far more effective. Some theorize that it may turbocharge the immune system to make subsequent treatments more effective.
