I got my first ever flu shot last year. Also got pneumonia and shingles vaccines this year. Trying to keep possible "complications" to a minimum. The only warning was to stay away from any vaccines that are "live" vaccines when you're immune compromised.
Yes - why not?
Everybody older than 6 months should get the flu vaccine except for some conditions, according to the CDC. These are the CDC recommendations:
I did get a fly shot. They said it should cover 30 percent of the expected strains this year. My advice look for a deal with a free gift card so you can use it to rent movies if you are stricken by the other 70 percent.
My research doctor said my wife should not have a shingles shot because it is a live vaccine and I may be vulnerable.
As mentioned before on this forum by NPfisherman, there are 2 shingles vaccines. Zostavax and Shingrix.

Shingrix is a recombinant, non-live vaccine, while Zostavax is a live, attenuated vaccine. Live virus vaccines aren't usually recommended in immunocompromised patients.
I used to get the flu most years. Then, in the 1980's I joined an HMO that gave me flu shots every year and I haven't gotten it since then. It worked well for me.

I get them every year, much longer than I’ve had PCa.
Finished Chemo end of June, is my immune system still weakened/vulnerable?
I always get my flu shot, in fact gonna get one when I go for my next Lupron sot in a couple weeks, oh happy days!

Even though it is a weak and lousy vaccine, most people should get it. If you are immunocompromised, you are at added risk for a worse flu; also if you are over 65.
Last year Seattle Cancer Care Alliance gave the shot to any willing caregiver or family member while they were waiting for their person’s appointments.
What does your Medical Oncologist say? He will know about you. If you ask me, the answer is yes......

I personally never get flu shots and never will. There are safer things that are more effective. The effectiveness ranges from 12 % to 50% on best years. Why take risk with success rates like that.
A healthy immune system and body is the key.
Don't think of it as getting a flu shot. Think of it as installing virus software protection...
Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.

The virus software protection of 1976 that crashed - The Infamous Swine Flu Shot - makes me hesitate. And did I hear that medical error was third leading cause of death in US? That makes me absolutely stutter. Get a flu shot at a drug store. Oh, the horror, the horror. Maybe next year. Enjoy.
